Make the ratings of the landings available everywhere, as in the landing challenges

I would find it very helpful if I could call up qualitative feedback after any landing at any location - similar to the landing challenges. Of course, you couldn’t set an exact target point, but you could evaluate how hard or soft the landing was and how well the center line was held. That would be fantastic!

Great idea.

Oh no thanks, we already kinda know that because we pay to renew the landing gear every 5 minutes - imagine that this is implemented, we would be paying per % of landing proficiency instead!

There are a few addons that do this. I have flow essentials toolbar on 2020 which has it and even gives you a satellite picture showing you where you touched down which is nice to have. Can’t wait for it to port over to 2024 as I miss it

As an add on - better idea then you can choose to have it or not.

I think items like this would be good additions to an accurate flight logbook. Those who want to see it could, and those who don’t care aren’t bothered by a pop up after each landing.

Where the ratings are , are where they belong. Freeflight doesnt need that. There are plenty of addons that give landing stats.

While it’s fun to have feedback and make comparisons, I’ve encountered enough nonsense from both the in-sim landing ratings and those of third parties to know that their measures are not accurate enough to the real-world to implement in a widespread manner. There’s way too much emphasis on an extremely minimal descent rate (especially in adverse conditions) and the target is often wrong, especially on shorter/smaller runways. What this breeds is ratings chasing, which often incorporates a lot of poor, unrealistic, even dangerous technique.

Hence why I like the flow essentials version that gives you the picture. I’m not overly interested in the number (though it’s nice when it’s low) - I like to know I got the centreline on the touchdown markers

Interesting that you say that and I see your point. You also hit a point with the center point - it really is in the middle of the Burj al Arab, for example, although Łukasz Czepiela didn’t come to a stop in the middle at all - as a result, the most absurd techniques are developed to shorten the braking distance…

Absurd, but sometimes fun, because I learned to throw the Cub almost vertically to the ground and bring it to a halt in just under two meters…

2m, wow. Post video

I`ll send you the most extreme one:

The funny thing is that I stopped 322 cm too early - and lacked the presence of mind to let the Cub roll a little more towards the finish point…

I quickly jumped off the brakes the next time:

Bloody awesome mate! New respect for the Cub too! :boom:

Thanks for your appreciation, but it really is the Cub that makes it possible, I was just being persistent. What I would really like to know is whether my tutorial is good enough for someone who follows it to do it just as reliably ( https://www.youtube-nocookie.com/embed/2AXRhqQyOOY )
