Went into MSFS last week and had the message that a “Mandatory Update” was required through the Microsoft Store. Went to the store and did not see any updates for MSFS. Contacted Microsoft Support, first mistake, where they had me uninstall MSFS. Now I was using MSFS on my PC not through the Xbox app. Now I cannot reinstall MSFS from the store. When I open the menu in t he upper right hand corner next to “Install”, there is a selection for “Install on my devices”. When that window opens I have the following, “It looks like you don’t have any suitable device(s) linked to your Microsoft account. To install, sign in on a device with your Microsoft account.” I feel that I am signed into my Microsoft account on my PC. How do I check to see if this is certain I am logged in to MS account? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
A Google search returned this following MS website, that may help you to solve your issue.
All MS apps associated with MSFS (Store, XBox App, XBox Game Bar are the three common ones most needed) have login indicators in the upper right of their interfaces, just like the sim did. You need to click on those to make sure you’re logged in. The “Device Installation” seems to be just a method to sync your apps installed across multiple Windows devices (PC, Surface Tablets, the now deprecated Windows Mobile/Phone etc), and shouldn’t have anything to do with getting MSFS installed correctly.
The “critical path” - log in using your web browser to XBox Live - that should set the first indicator of your authentication. Launch MS Store App and login (again look to the upper right to see status and login as needed). Add or update XBox App and XBox Gamebar, launch and repeat login process on each of those. Return to MS Store and make sure you’re still logged in. In the same upper right area, click on the three dots menu (…) and click Downloads and Updates. See if there are any Mandatory Updates there.
The other place to look is to launch WIndows Updates and ensure you have no pending Windows 10 Operating System updates in queue. That too will trigger Mandatory Updates warning.
Also - please reboot after either installing or updating the Troika of apps (Store, Gamebar, XBox App) and/or any Windows Updates. Better safe than sorry.
Had this same problem just now. Xbox App was not installed, so quickly installed it. That didn’t work. But then ran the XBox App and then the MSFS update was available in the MS Store after I ran ‘Get Updates’. In my case, I didn’t need to reboot.
