Map of all Points of Interest, 3D Cities and Hand-Crafted Airports up tp World Update #19 Brazil, Guyana, Suriname and French Guiana

Thank you as always for diligently keeping this great resource up-to-date!

Thanks for creating this overview and maintaining it with the World Updates. However, it seems like the list of 3D cities is not updated according to WU’s? For example, Paris and Amsterdam that were added in the Benelux update are not in the list of 3D cities.

I just added those cities, I must have forgotten them. Thanks!

I’m going to have to reorganize the layers and put airports, cities and POI in their own layers because it’s getting difficult to pinpoint the new airports in a sea of POI markers.

Awesome. I was just about to suggest that yesterday when I was trying to figure out the ‘new’ PG areas in the UK. Not sure if it’s possible, but a global check mark for 3D cities would be helpful. Atm it only turns the original ones on or off. Switching them on/off per update works too.

Great map, so very useful!

Yes I want to consolidate the layers a bit. One limitation to the google map is that it allows only 10 layers and not more. Thanks for your suggestion!

@AcktuNasrabi thanks for creating this resource and keeping it updated. Great work. :+1:

For those who use Little Navmap: You can export all POIs from Google Maps as .kml or .kmz file and import them in Little Navmap via the “Add Google Earth KML” option in the “File” menu.

If you import the .kmz file, you may find that the icons are too big. To fix that:

  • Extract the .kmz file (it’s just a regular ZIP file, so just rename it to .zip)
  • Open the contained doc.kml file in any text editor
  • You will find lines like this “<scale>1</scale>” for each icon, which represents the icon scale. Change the numbers to your liking. Values between 0.6 and 0.8 work quite well.
  • In Little Navmap, select the “Clear Google Earth KML” option to remove previously loaded KML data and then add the doc.kml file you just changed.

Ey @AcktuNasrabi I just wanted to let you know that you are missing the Burj Khalifa and the Burj Al Arab in your map. Thanks for the awesome map by the way.

Thank you. Just added those. Always appreciate people pointing out omissions or mistakes. Enjoy. :airplane:

No, thank you!

Just discovered another POI missing in the map: New Century Global Center in Chengdu, China

Thank you I’ll take a look later today.

Speaking of the whole map going forward:

Google custom maps has a limit of only 10 layers, so I will have to restructure all the layers merging them by type instead of by world update.

To make it easier to find airports, I will put all the hand crafted airports including the ones released in the world updates into one layer. All of the POIs in it’s own layer too, etc. Each airport and POI will have a suffix like: “WU#” to identify what world update it comes from.

It will take a while since it’s tedious unfortunately I can’t select a bunch of items and drag them at once. :unamused:

Hello folks. Just finished updating the map to include World Update #6 Germany, Austria, Switzerland.

Took me a while because I had to restructure the layers (Google custom maps only supports max 10 layers). So I had to consolidate the points of interests for all the world updates.

  • World Update POI are listed in ascending order (World updates 1, 2, 3, etc)
  • Hand Crafted Airports and Photogrammetry (3D) Cities are listed in descending order (World updates 6, 5, 4, etc) with most recent on top of list.
  • Each one is prefixed with what corresponding world update it is in. (e.g. “WU#1”)

As always, if there is an errata please let me know and I’ll correct. Happy discovery.

Fort Sumter near Charleston, SC looks pretty good in default scenery even though it’s not listed as a POI.

I’ve downloaded the scenery for NASA and unzipped the folder in my Communities folder but it doesn’t show up in the sim. Same with the Guitar Hotel in Ft. Lauderdale. Anything else I’m supposed to do?

Hello folks.

I just finished updating the map to now include World Update #7 Australia.

There are about a dozen POIs that have either a very generic name or I just can’t pinpoint the following:

  • 1 William Street
  • Australia 108
  • Broadcast Australia Tower
  • Port Latta Pier
  • Great Barrier Reef Activity Platform
  • Melbourne Grand
  • Ocean, 88 The Esplanade
  • One Barangaroo
  • Queen’s Wharf Brisbane
  • Strangways Springs Ruins
  • The One

Maybe our friends in Australia can help and send me the specific locations and I’ll then update the map. :slightly_smiling_face: You can send it via PM, preferably pinpoint it with google maps link.

Happy exploring everyone. :small_airplane:

@AcktuNasrabi

Found a very small error on a building description in Macao.

There’s a building in the game which is the Grand Lisboa. And while you have it correctly marked on the map, the photo shown on the left is from the Lisboa Casino building (which is the older, much smaller building).

It’s a very small detail (and easy to get confused, I know).

Also, thanks for making this. Fantastic work and very useful.
