Mapping an 'F' key to a joystick

Hey everybody,
I’ve tried searching for this without finding any real answers. I have a Thrustmaster T.16000 joystick and throttle. I’d like to map the F12 key to one of the buttons on the joystick. Is that possible without using the TARGET software from TM? FS on Steam, if it matters.

Yes, get a small free program called “joytokey” map any keyboard command to HOTAS. I use it all the time.
