You can only get 1 copy of MSFS / login account. Each copy of MSFS is a separate license, and that includes any add-ons. YOu either buy them all again or do without.
I guess I will just get another Premium Deluxe Edition for her, and will just won’t have all my add-ons. Well maybe, I can install the ones that I have purchased from other places.
interesting question. are you both planning on flying together? are you buying from Microsoft Store or Steam. when you say you will purchase in your name do you mean you will use the same ID. xbox live etc. example…If I built a new pc with better specs and everything I could install my Premium Deluxe with all my purchased stuff (from the Ingame marketplace) onto the new pc using the same ID, but I wouldnt be able to run both Sims at the same time. I have pc and xbox versions. If I fire up the xbox to do some casual flying while my pc is running fs, I get disconnected from the pc. I think this is to prevent people from sharing content and purchases. It does make sense. The good news though is if you dont plan on flying together in theory yes all the content you purchased is available on the new pc if you are using the same gamer ID and bought from the microsoft store…
We will both fly at the same time, so I can’t have it installed and use at the same time. If it detects that its already up, it tells you to shut the other ne down and then start on the other PC again.
My current version is from the Marketplace and so will the second one will also be from Microsoft. O do not use Steam for anything.
I know, cause I first installed MFS on an old PC and then upgraded and installed on new PC. For a short time it was on both PCs and it would only allow to run on one PC at a time even though you could have it on two PCs installed. They just could be run at the same time.
I am now building a new monster PC and I will install the works on my new PC once I’m done building it.
But base on what @Crunchmeister71 said, one can only have one MFS license per ID, so I will have to purchase another MFS copy in her name.
It’s a shame that they can’t be like Apple and allow family to share your Marketplace purchases.
MS Store doesn’t have any type of family share plan to the best of my knowledge. Even if running Steam, you can only run it on 1 computer at once (same for any Steam title).
Well it’s a shame? Mhmmm… for just using a program on more than one computer ok., but You expect to have two separarated user-IDs in multiplayer to fly together. This would only be possible like its is in playstaiton’s local mutliplayer plus Internet (like in Rocket League) having YourName-1, YourName.2 , …
On the Xbox, my son can run my purchase of Flight Simulator on his Xbox at the same time I am running it on mine. He also has access to my purchased add-ons.
I have no idea if this functionality exists with PCs, but with Xboxes, one Xbox is set as your “home” Xbox. Anyone using said home Xbox is allowed to use the software installed there regardless if they purchased it or not.
In my home, my son’s Xbox is set as the home Xbox. Oddly, mine isn’t. Mine must have an active online connection for it to allow me to use my purchases, as it has to authenticate every time I launch something. The home Xbox doesn’t have that restriction.
Again, I do not know if there is any sort of solution for PC via the Xbox app that would behave similarly, but an Xbox purchase (provided you purchased the sim on the MS Store, rather than Steam, as you’d have the “Play Anywhere” deal that lets you install your purchase on either Xbox or PC regardless of where you purchased it initially) would allow you to pull this off.
Naturally, the types of add-ons you’d be able to run are going to be restricted to what is currently available via the in-sim Marketplace.
oh you have 2 xboxes, thats a bit different than having 1 pc and xbox or 2 pcs. yes I can imagine that that would work but not if you wanted to fly together online.
You can fly together with two Xboxes, but I’m thinking it would also work with an Xbox and a PC.
The Xbox would be the “home” Xbox by default, as it would be the only one. The person who doesn’t own the copy of the software uses the Xbox.
The person who does own the copy of the software uses the PC.
You fly together.
I’ve got a PC, I can test this.
EDIT: Yes, this definitely works. I’m logged in on my PC and and alternate Gamertag is signed in on an Xbox using my copy of the sim and we are both in the world together.
It will be interesting to see what happens when I fire up the sim on this old PC and sign in with a new ID.
I already created another email account and bought another copy of FS Premium Deluxe and created a new GamerID.
I will have to install FS on the new PC, but would prefer not to uninstall and have to re-install here on the old PC again. But it seems that getting rid of the Marketplace purchases one at a time will be a pain.
I hope to have my new system finished tomorrow or Sunday. So I guess I will know then. I will not do anything that can damage the sim here, until I have it running on the new PC.
Currently cloning the Samsung 980 Pro 2TB on this PC to an older Samsung 970 EVO Plus. I hope to switch over to the Samsung 970 tonight, so I can continue the new build tomorrow.
The Samsung 980 Pro 2TB will be in the new PC with another Samsung Pro 1TB. If the motherboard fires up okay, I will start the Window install and of course, second install will be the sim.
