I’m curious as to whats the procedure if content creators who sell items in-game via Marketplace don’t respond to support requests?
Does the official MSFS support take over or what? I love this game despite one or two issues and have no problem spending money on add-ons as long as i feel they’re genuine and offer genuine support. Otherwise I feel scammed.
Unfortunately, they don’t offer support for marketplace items that is not MS or Asobo labeled. It would be nice if it was a requirement for 3rd Parties to have an active support site for their products.
Interesting. I find that quite shocking tbh because its only going to hurt the games image if they continue to allow rogue traders use marketplace right? Or at least youd think so. I’ve had no response from the 3rd party developers and MSFS official support just palmed me off.
I’ve seen comments and accusations on various sites about a team who specifically creates jets. My problem is slightly different however and despite not paying much for these add ons i do feel like ive been deliverately ripped off. Whats worse, is I’ve noticed some of these exact same files available as freeware so wondered if they created them themselves or in fact poached them and put them up for sale on Marketplace.
It would be nice if they all offered support, but that’d be impossible due to the quality if releases. Always check ratings/reviews before buying. Very VERY few of the 3rd parties offer any kind of support - even those that claim they do. There are a handful of really good ones who do though.
Sigh. I guess I was just naïve enough to assume, “Well if it’s being sold through the games in-store marketplace, then they surely can’t be rogue traders.” I’ve lost $20 but learned a lesson I guess. ■■■■■■ me off to think how much the seller has probably made from sales though especially if the liveries aren’t even theirs to sell. I can’t understand Asobo/Microsoft are continuing to allow this. It genuinely boggles the mind.
Curious as to why you tagged 4simmers. I have nothing but praise for those guys. Great liveries for cheap and some even come with sound packages. They can be reached on Facebook.
Indeed, I’d be surprised to hear about 4Simmers. I’ve got quite a number of their liveries. While I’ve actually used very few, they’ve all been perfect.
I’d forgot id tagged them tbh. I didnt want to name them incase i got reprimanded or had fanboys & undercover members of the team patronising me or trying to contradict me. I’m not on Facebook. I contacted 4Simmers via the email address displayed in Marketplace and never got a response. Some of the liveries in the 747 & 787 pack have glitches behind the engines and no contrails. By sheer coincidence, i stumbled across a freeware site with the exact same liveries with the same glitches. Which made me wonder if they were in fact just copy and pasted from there.
They may be cheap when the sales are on but they’re still supposed to come with support like anything else on the Marketplace should, in my humble opnion.
I’ll just take the loss. Lesson learned. Once bitten, twice shy as they say.
It’s much more likely the other way around. I believe there was a problem wtih their liveries being stolen a while back and resold on other websites. No doubt they would also appear as “freeware.” I don’t remember the details though.
4Simmers has a pretty good reputation. It’s too bad they didn’t get back to you though, assuming you gave them some time. That’s not terribly professional no matter what.
The marketplace can be a crapshoot. Read reviews before buying. I’ve bought some things there I regret and don’t even use anymore. Things like liveries I don’t expect support on. Things I pay a pretty penny for, like PMDG I do.
Is there any way to read reviews on Marketplace? All I see are star ratings. And to answer the other persons point, if the liveries were originally made by 4Simmers and stolen then reaquired, surely theyd be in a position to fix them then as the original creators, surely? These issues have been there for well over a year if not longer. They look as if they’ve not been updated to be compatible from a certain SU update from what i can tell.
No, but check Youtube or the web. A quick Google search usually finds them. Airports can be more hit or miss. Generally the star rating gives you a good idea of how good it is. Aircraft will have tons of reviews online - many in depth.
You would think so (about 4Simmers). Like I say though, you can tell by their ratings that they usually make good stuff. I haven’t found any problems with mine. I’ve never used the 787 though. I’ll have a look as I think I do own those. Or at least some of them, there’s quite a few packages.
Have you tried more than one livery? Do they all work the same? If you know particular liveries, which?
Someone has to buy them for there to be ratings and reviews. Who should be the guinea pig? OP might be one of the small group of people who have any interest in this airport.
There was a problem with contrails in liveries in one SU updates I remember. 4simmers fixed them for the A320, I don’t know about others. Another developer FSSoars didn’t and therefore I don’t buy from them anymore. That’s kinda how you have to do it.
Just as an update, I went up in the British Airways livery for the 787. Looks perfect with good contrails. I’ll try a specific one though if you let me know what the problem livery was.
Korean Air 748 No contrails
Singapore 787 weird blurring glitch behind engines. (No, its not heat blur) Happens on the ground but more noticeable in the air.
Another 787 had an issue but I forget which one and why.
I’ve just uninstalled them all and downloaded freeware so i cant be bothered to reinstall and check now.
I’m by no means a 4Simmers fanboy but I’ve always got a response when I’ve emailed or messaged them.
I believe the issue a year or so ago was one of their painters was in fact pinching freeware liveries and passing them off as his own. When it came to 4Simmers’ attention they got shut of him and issued an apologetic and seemingly sincere statement.
Their liveries are really good now, the 781 pack features some of the best I’ve seen, all done in ultra-high-res.
At first I thought the default one did not either. They’re extremely faint. Granted, I didn’t thoroughly test this, but I think there may be an issue with the 747’s contrails in general. They also didn’t show up till over 35,000 feet. They are extremely faint and there’s black lines going back to them which are visible over the desert in this shot. I can’t imagine that’s realistic… And there’s 2 not 4.
