:airplane: [Massive Simulations 32] Warbirds Wednesday – Korean War Props Over Northern Spain :spain: | 14 October 2026

:small_airplane: Korean War Legends Take to the Skies Over Spain!

Massive Simulations 32 (MS32), Australia’s largest online community flying group, invites the Microsoft Flight Simulator community to join us for another exciting Warbirds Wednesday adventure!

This week, we’re giving the jets a well-earned rest and bringing out some of the magnificent piston-powered warbirds that served during the Korean War.

Our aircraft of choice include the Douglas A-1 Skyraider, Hawker Sea Fury, Vought Corsair and North American F-51D Mustang.

We’ll be exploring the rugged northern coastline of Spain before turning inland for some spectacular low-level flying through the hills and countryside.

With a target ground speed of 250 knots (approximately 290 mph) and a maximum altitude of 5,000 feet above sea level, this promises to be a fantastic low-and-fast warbird adventure!

Whether you’re a dedicated military aviation enthusiast or simply enjoy flying historic aircraft with others, we’d love to have you join us.

:world_map: FLIGHT ROUTE – NORTHERN SPAIN

### :airplane_departure: LEG 1 – THE BAY OF BISCAY

Bilbao (LEBB) → Foronda (LEVT)
Distance: 197 nautical miles

We’ll depart from the Asobo-enhanced Bilbao Airport (LEBB) and head out to explore the spectacular coastline along the Bay of Biscay.

Expect rugged coastal scenery, rolling hills and some excellent opportunities for low-level formation flying.

After following the coastline, we’ll loop back inland towards Foronda Airport (LEVT), just outside Vitoria-Gasteiz.

:hot_beverage: Coffee Break at Foronda (LEVT)

Time to park the warbirds, grab a coffee and regroup before our second leg!

### :airplane_departure: LEG 2 – INLAND TO THE PYRENEES

Foronda (LEVT) → Monflorite-Alcalá (LEHC)
Distance: 214 nautical miles

After our break, we’ll remain inland, exploring the Spanish countryside and checking out several points of interest along the way.

Our route takes us past the historic city of Pamplona, before continuing towards the foothills of the Pyrenees.

We’ll finish our adventure at Monflorite-Alcalá Airport (LEHC), just outside Huesca, with the impressive Pyrenees providing a spectacular backdrop.

Total Planned Distance: 411 nautical miles

:small_airplane: SUGGESTED AIRCRAFT

This week’s theme focuses on piston-powered warbirds that saw service during the Korean War.

Douglas A-1H Skyraider
Payware – Miltech / Blackbird

A powerful ground-attack aircraft with incredible endurance and a distinctive radial engine.

Hawker Sea Fury
Freeware – DSD Simulations

One of the fastest piston-engine fighters ever built, and more than capable of keeping up with the group.

Vought FG-1D Corsair
Payware – Blackbird Simulations (formerly Milviz)

The unmistakable bent-wing fighter that continued its distinguished service into the Korean War.

North American F-51D Mustang
Included with MSFS 2024

The legendary Mustang, which continued serving in the ground-attack role during the Korean conflict.

Pilots are encouraged to select one of these aircraft to maintain the historical theme and target cruise performance.

:wrench: IMPORTANT PILOT PREPARATION NOTES

A little aircraft preparation will go a long way towards making this flight enjoyable!

:small_airplane: Douglas A-1H Skyraider

  • No external fuel tanks are required.

  • Fill the internal fuel tank completely, as it defaults to 50%.

  • Engine and propeller damage are enabled by default.

  • Damage cannot be repaired without restarting the flight.

  • Disabling engine and propeller damage is highly recommended.

  • Both settings can be disabled using the Beacon Audio switch on the far left of the front instrument panel.

  • The aircraft manual is available online rather than as a PDF.

:small_airplane: Hawker Sea Fury

  • No external fuel is required.

  • Fill all internal fuel tanks, which default to 50%.

  • This is the fastest of the suggested aircraft.

  • The Sea Fury can comfortably exceed 350 knots, so pilots may need to manage their speed to remain with the group.

:small_airplane: Vought FG-1D Corsair

  • Internal fuel is sufficient for the planned legs.

  • The aircraft defaults with three external drop tanks fitted and 50% fuel.

  • Remove the drop tanks to reduce drag and improve speed.

  • Fill the internal tank completely.

  • Engine and propeller damage are modelled and cannot be disabled or repaired during the flight.

Be careful with engine management in the Corsair!

:small_airplane: North American F-51D Mustang

The standard MSFS Mustang represents a modernised, lightweight racing-style aircraft with boosted performance.

For a more authentic experience, the RandallSnow Mustang Improvement Mod is highly recommended.

This modification brings the aircraft closer to late-WWII/Korean War specifications, improves the flight model and enables more functional aircraft systems.

With the improvement mod installed:

  • External drop tanks are fitted by default.

  • Per-livery state saving may remember previously removed tanks.

  • Internal fuel normally includes full wing tanks and a small amount in the fuselage tank.

  • This is more than sufficient for each leg.

The Echo19 Mustang Sound Pack is also highly recommended for pilots looking for an enhanced audio experience.

:sunrise_over_mountains: OPTIONAL SCENERY ENHANCEMENTS

The flight can be completed using standard MSFS 2024 scenery, but there are a few optional additions worth considering.

Mamu Design – Powerlines and Solar Farms

Highly recommended for this region, adding extra detail to the landscape during our low-level flying through the hills.

Bilbao Airport (LEBB)

Already enhanced by Asobo, so no additional airport scenery is required.

Foronda Airport (LEVT)

No specific scenery add-on has been identified for our coffee stop.

Monflorite-Alcalá Airport (LEHC)

A 2024-compatible freeware scenery enhancement is available for pilots who would like additional detail at our final destination.

All scenery additions are optional.
