This is my first post on here, just joined today so bear with me - hopefully this isn’t a stupid post or known-issue.
While downloading some of the default assets in the marketplace (hadn’t yet started any actual sim flight or anything) I noticed on my stat overlay that my GPU was maxed-out and my CPU around 50%.
This seems totally bizarre to me - that’s usually what I see when watching the intro video waiting for the assets to load, so it’s almost like that video/playback simulation just continues indefinitely in the background?
…again, maybe a stupid post, but it seems incredibly wasteful to be running my GPU at 300+ watts simply downloading files in the menus.

edit: where do these downloaded asset files actually go? Is there a way to set a folder for them? It’s an AMAZING feature (that I hope works out for me) but we’re talking about a TON of data here.
Downloading the data to your SSD is not required, but I’ve found that it has helped with stability. The default folder for these files is the same drive and general location as the core program. That location is somewhat depended on where you obtained the game initially (XBox, Steam, PC, etc.). The CPU usage does seem a bit high for downloading data, but not by too much. GPU usuage will almost always be maxed out once the game loads if your game is not frame-rate limited.
Correct. Within the graphics settings you can limit FPS to 60-90, for example, and that should bring your GPU utilization while rendering the menus down. During game play, however, you’ll still likely max out your GPU, especially when using Ultra settings at 1440p or higher resolution.
