MeganeX 8K has landed in MSFS

I preordered this hmd in December and cannot wait to jump out of my Quest 3 cockpit into OLED nirvana!

Who else is impatiently counting down the days to next months UK/US/EU shipping?

Same here, pre-ordered in December and looking forward to switch from my Varjo Aero.

Base stations are not ideal in 2025, however I have prioritised clarity and comfort over other issues.

I imagine coming from Varjo Aero, comfort will be one of the biggest draws as well as physical adjustability.

I also hope a native steam VR headset will bring common benefits.

I’m not sure that this headset is actually Native SteamVR or not. Like the Aero, VivePro2, and Pimax headsets it may also require its own middle-man software.

In any case, it’s great to see more high res micro-oled headsets being released. I’m holding off for now, waiting to see how the Pimax Dream Air pans out. Good luck with your Meganex mate. Cheers.

Congrats, hope you get it soon! If I didn’t already have a VR1 I’d have bought one.

I actually probably would’ve bought one anyway if it had more FOV

But apart from that it looks absolutely amazing!
Please report back in this thread if you can.

Yes I shall report back on my experience in MSFS 2024.

Hopefully if it is positive, it will encourage others to take the plunge. I have taken a risk with a no returns policy but I was like a moth to the flame of microOLED lightness.

I just hope with the 90hz refresh rate, I can run smoothly with frames capped at 30 or 45fps.

DLSS 4 performance mode has made a big difference on my Quest 3 and intend to use that superb transformer model on my MeganeX.

Currently sold out for the UK which is forcing me to hold off which I’m kind of glad about. I want to see some real world feedback, including those who normally require glasses.

Base stations are gladly welcomed here in 2025 with a 6DOF and motion compensation. Camera tracking is too jittery. And OpenXR is also a must, not Steam VR

The one with the 5m optical special cable is still available on the site, though £150 more.

45fps should work good. Plus 72 or 75hz is supposed to be coming later.

If I can get 45fps at full resolution, I shall be over the moon.
I mainly fly GA in rural and semi rural areas, so it is a possibility :crossed_fingers:

Now it appears the HMD has its own compositor, there will be room for further improvement with native OpenXR software implementation.

Yes, I saw that but have no need for the longer cable so always suspicious why the more expensive option is still available even though the headset itself is identical. Why not just offer both options until headset inventory is used up?

Good point, there are so many use cases for VR.

Does your motion rig help with VR nausea?

I did not get nauseous in MSFS with VR before i had the rig. But now, if i start flying and i forget to activate motion, it definitely feels weird. I don’t think i’ve tested long enough without activating motion to know for sure. Driving games get me a little nauseous either with or without motion, i think it’s the lack of 360 yaw motion and tighter, reversing turns. MSFS i can do for many hours without issue.

Same here, MSFS ok but AC Evo makes me as sick as a dog.

I think I shall use MeganeX as a giant monitor only wirh AC Evo.

My plan is to replace my Beyond with the MeganeX running on a 4090. I fly MSFS and X-Plane so will be interesting how it goes.

With DLSS 4 I imagine your MeganeX will fly!

Will you keep your beyond as a backup, as I imagine it would be hard to sell with a fixed IPD.

Yes I plan on keeping my Beyond as a backup.
