Melted buildings tired of this

Can it be that your usercfg.opt is marked as read only, with this it wont change anything at all if you try

it is marked read only. should it be? i didnt think this would cause a problem as to how PG is processed/rendered?

Well if this usercfg.opt is marked read only than the sim can not write to this file and neither can you,
For changes wont hold. so if you want to make changes than unmark this read only.

Im confused on your answer. If it’s “NOT” marked read only ….the changes I make in it & save, when the sim starts up , it reverts back to default.

If it “IS” marked read only……the changes I DO MAKE in it & save, when the sim starts up , it saves and DOES NOT revert back to default .

How do I keep my changes that I make if the check mark is NOT marked read only ?

By default the sim saves your actual in game settings on close. If UserCfg is marked read only it cannot do this and on next start will load exactly whatever your settings were when you ticked read only.

ok well prior to me checking the box marked “read only” i modifed my post process. i changed all of them to zero except 2 of them (Enable=1 and Sharpen=1). when i saved the user.cfg file and started up MSFS, after i started up sim, it reverted to default…and after i closed the sim down it still was at default. why did my modifications get changed? thats what im asking. when i changed it to “read only” the above mentioned was saved in both scenarios. please advise, thank u

basically what im saying is :
-usercfg not marked read only=its reverting my mods to default
-usercfg marked read only=its keeping my mods

im lost

If you are not marked read only and make changes to some of the graphics settings in the MSFS menu then when you apply and save it will often change other settings back to default. However if you don’t make changes in the menu your alterations usually stick… At least that was my experience but now I don’t bother as the defaults suit me just fine.

its not marked read only, i make changes, my changes disappear and it goes back to default.

its marked read only, i make changes, my changes stay in place.

this is so bizarre.

** im making the changes to the post process section of the usercfg only

Yes but do you then make changes in MSFS too? because when you ‘Apply & Save’ other settings will return to default. Some might even always revert to default when you close the sim unless UserCfg is marked read only. I’m sure this would be deliberate behaviour set to avoid conflicts.

If you are running TLOD and OLOD that low, the sim is simply not going to look very good at all. Those are very low settings even for your system. I was running 125-150 on both with my previous PC (I7-6700 with a 1080ti) and could still fly the Fenix with 30 fps locked. I would first eliminate AI traffic to see if that helps performance. The PG buildings are still not going to be super sharp as they were in the early days of MSFS but you should get them to look decent enough. Many of them will still look melted when very close. I don’t think fiddling with your User.cfg is going to do anything to help as long as you are keeping those very low LOD settings.

That’s the problem.
Try DLSS and TLOD and OLOD both 100

ok will try thanks. will report back

can you post a pic please of “melted” ? … you mean that kind of post-apocalyptic, wavy appearance … where the windows don’t line up ? …

If like me you live on the edge of town your house will never be as good as in the city centre.

All of my cities are melted . Will test in a bit see how it looks, but before I report back, all of my cities towns are melted buildings trees.

Hallelujah it fixed the melted buildings with TLOD 100 OLOD 100 thanks everyone …BUT ….I suffer from
Low fps stutterfest . I switched from TAA to DLSS , got better fps but displays on fenix and pmdg are blurry . I got a 2080ti. Will upgrading to 3080ti improve that stutter and display blurry or is that a SU10 thing ?

Hi, a GPU upgrade will improve stutters but will not eliminate blurry displays > it’s a DLSS “thing”. For more than 1000 further information about “blurry displays” pls use the search bar in this forum ;).

Have a good day
Ron

As stated above…will help stutters but not blur. Running at 4k you’d be wise to get that 3080ti (regular 3080 doesn’t have enough vram for dx12 optimally).

In the meantime you can gain 5-10fps by starting sim (Fly Now) let the sim load …and allow textures to load then hit [esc] and click Restart (flight).
The sim will reload and you should notice better frame rate.

Hope that helps

DLSS works by rendering at lower resolution and scaling up, so it will be blurrier. I don’t use it for that reason.
Stutters can be casued by various things. You ought to find out what before spending money.

I delete my bitdefender antivirus protection and enable windows defender as standart antivir programm. I think its mucher better for me now.

I did this tweaks too https://www.flightsimulator.blog/2022/09/21/performance-boost-tricks/
