Hello all! So, I’ve been experiencing this issue not just in Las Vegas but any other city as well. As you can see from this image all the buildings look “melted”. I have all my settings pretty much on ULTRA. I flew through the strip and it looked very horrible! I don’t know if it’s on my end or on MS/Asobo end. Any suggestions?
Adjust Terrain LOD in cfg to 4 and at a cost of valuable FPS your scenery will not look like that, it’s a solution but a tough compromise. I hope that Asobo finds a way to increase the render LOD without impacting FPS too much, perhaps DX12 but hey, dunno??
Uploading: Desktop Screenshot 2020.09.23 - 21.04.07.45.png…Can you show me in which lines do I change that?
Will changing it give me any issues?
It will reduce your frame rate from 15% up to 30%, depending on your system (what are your specs?). So try these settings. First thing you need to do is go to your settings in MSFS2020, make sure terrain level of detail is set to 200, render scaling minimum of 100 (110 - 120 would be better), next set object level of detail to 200, save your settings and exit MSFS2020. next go to windows explorer, under the view tab make sure hidden files is enabled . Go to your c:\users\your name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\ scroll down you’ll see a file named UserCfg.opt (if you cant find it just search for this file in explorer). Once located (BACK IT UP SOMEWHERE TO REVERT IF YOU’RE NOT HAPPY), right click and open with a text editor (notepad ++ or notepad).
Once the file is open, you’ll see a line called Terrain, underneath it LoDFactor 2.000000, change this to LoDFactor 4.000000, next change the line under ObjectLoD LoDFactor 2.000000 to LoDFactor 3.000000. Click save, start the sim, wait a minute while the scenery loads in and you should see a difference, you’ll also notice a major difference when flying at altitude, no more blurry terrain!
Hope it helps, Good Luck!
My specs are: i9-10900k / 32gb ram / 2080 Super
Omg yes every time I fly high altitudes, not the terrain below me but the one furthest away from me is always blurry and I can’t even tell what it is until I get close to it and start flying over it, that’s when it starts clearing up. Will this change that issue? I hope so! As soon as I get home I’m going to give it a shot. I’ll definitely back up my cfg file as well. I hope that fixes the melted buildings. Oh and yes I have all those settings you mentioned above the same exact way as you listed them.
One other thing. So when you say it reduces the frames , do you mean it’ll make my sim not run smooth as it is right now?
Didn’t really do anything for me… I reversed the CFG file changes but left the sliders higher.
Do your buildings look like mine as well?
