Brief description of the issue:

The taxiways at KPIT are broken, very jagged edges, weird hills and sudden elevation drops. Causes planes to become stuck and fall through the floor of the ground.

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

This last shot is to show that the A/C was on TO thrust (set by the TPW) and it would not pull me out.

ICAO or coordinates (DevMode > Options > Display position)

KPIT for sure. I think it was around LAT: 40deg 29’ 37.78" N by LONG: 80deg 13’ 39.80" W taxing to RWY 14 for departure to KDTW.

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

start any plane from the Airline Gates and taxi to runway 14.

AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor - 3.59 GHz
TUF Gaming X570-PLUS

I have had similar problems at several airports. Runways and taxiways. seems to be intermittent.

Yes

I found there was a very large mismatch of scenery in the area identified by the OP. Fortunately, the van could drive through it! :grinning:

In the past, I have had significant texture problems at some airports, especially at a recently purchased add-on. I received a recommendation to fix my issue. Exit MSFS before attempting this:

To fix this issue 99% of the time you need to delete the contents of your SceneryIndexes folder.
The location of this folder depends on your version of MSFS:

Onestore
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\SceneryIndexes
or wherever you have the Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe file located if not on your C drive.

Steam
C:\Users\yourname\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator\SceneryIndexes

Only delete the folder contents, not the folder itself. MSFS will recreate the texture files at startup. This fixed most of my texture problems. FWIW I don’t have any texture issues at KPIT.

Hi,

Found this sinkhole near Runway 14, N5 at KPIT. Plane got stuck the other night. No biggie. Just want to alert the devs.

New to MSFS but having the time of my life.

Thanks.

Do you have the same issue if you follow the OP’s steps to reproduce it?

Yes.

Provide extra information to complete the original description of the issue:

I notice from all the screenshots, including mine, that the problem occurs exactly at a taxiway bridge that passes over an airport roadway. Assuming these sim runways are constructed from satellite photos and other map data I wonder if the algorithm is having trouble with this discontinuity between the taxiway elevation and the road passing beneath and resolving the discontinuity by creating this depression.

If relevant, provide additional screenshots/video:

Sure. Here’s a screenshot from a meat-space areal view of the area in question:

Quick follow-up:

For the devs: as of today the problem spot is still there. It causes certain planes to “crash” when you taxi over the hole.

PacificSet90456: Thank you for the suggestion of deleting all the SceneryIndex files. I tied that but it did not solve this particular problem.

Thanks.
