After spending a huge amount of time trying to get my i9-11900K, RTX3090 PC to recognise the link cable so as to get the best performance is FS. From a Meta diagnostic, they suggested a hardware issue? So maybe it was the ROG Maximus XIII Hero MB to blame. I ordered, and tried another MB, a ROG X590-F, but the problem was still present, ‘link cable not recognised.’ A ‘!’ in the Oculus XRSP Device, showing a device error. I HAVE tried various good quality cables, ALL USB ports, disabled USB ‘suspend’ in Power Options, ect. The Quest 2 link worked fine on my previous MB, and I have tested it on a friends PC , link cable OK. Meta no longer reply to my help to fix the problem. Probably sick to death of me? After trying another MB, this is a total mystery, that I must accept as never to be resolved. I will now get rid of the Quest 2, and look for another VR headset. A headset that connects direct to the GPU, rather than a USB or Airlink , maybe a HP Reverb G2 or another similar make. Any advice Please.
Did you try to connect USB-c cable to Quest 2 ONLY AFTER Oculus launch ?
Thanks. Yes. Tried all of that. I am in contact with Meta technical, yet again. They can not work out themselves why the link cable will not work. Since April 2021, I tried and tested loads of things, even trying another motherboard, disabling Anti Virus, ect. Performing a PC Scan (scannow), disabling USB, ‘selective suspend’ in Power Options, ect, ect. Trying a new motherboard, and I have tested the Quest 2 with link cable on a friends PC and it works fine. Updated BIOS and ALL MB drivers, especially the USB ones, Nvidia, ect. Nothing more I can do. This is a very uncanny mystery! All I can do is purchase another make of VR headset. Very unlucky!
Very strange
No luck !
I’ve been following this topic as I had the same problem when it first came out. I’ll trawl through my stuff and see how I fixed it.
Meanwhile have you tried the beta software? And have you tried to establish an air link to see if that kick-starts it?
Just to throw another random thought out there: have you tried uninstalling all Nvidia drivers and rebooting into the Windows default vanilla?
Plesse do keep this topic updated and good luck.
Thanks. It is only the cable link that does not work. Airlink is OK. But unless you have a mega fast Broadband speed. Cable link would be much better for FS. I am at present with Meta to try and fix this problem. I just keep repeating myself, as well as the official Oculus link cable I have tried other good quality cables and ALL USB ports. Disabled USB ‘suspend’ in Power Options. Tried disabling Anti Virus and VPN. Updated Bios, and updated ALL Asus MB and Nvidia Drivers. Checking ALL the USB drivers, deleting and re-installing them. I have run ‘scannow’ and no problems or corrupt files detected. As suggested by Meta support deleted ALL the Oculus folders everywhere while in Win Safe mode and Internet disabled. Re-installed All Oculus software again. And I have gone to the extreme of replacing the MB with a new MB to make sure it was not a hardware issue. All of this has failed to resolve the issue, and the PC link cable just will not work. It is not the Quest 2 hardware, as it worked fine on previous system, and recently tested OK with a friends PC using the cable link. I wonder that if I purchased another make of VR like the Pico 4, that uses a USB cable, if I would still have the same problem? There is only one option to try, totally wipe the C drive SSD, install Win11 on a clean drive, and just install the oculus software and see what happens. However, re-installing everything would take a massive amount of time, and especially FS. Even Meta support are out of options to resolve this.
I have tested two cables, regular USB-C-C 3.0 and USB-3.2 Gen 2 to USB-C with 100 watts power transfer, and both had the same rather disappointing results.
When making quick camera turns in Alien Isolation the middle of the screen had ugly tearing and distortions, like Vsync off with especially ugly non-vsync-picture quality.
No matter what cable I tried the problem of the distortions and warpings when doing quick camera turns simply was not disappearing!
Until I plugged in my internet with ethernet cable, and connected the Meta 2 Quest to my router.
Suddenly I had the same good picture quality like on the 2D screen, the picture looked like fully vsynced, no warpings distortions or screen tearing when making quick camera turns, a perfect crystal-clear picture.
Just like a good headset should be…
The GPU is not fast enough to fly in VR that´s why I had to give up on that until upgrading to the GeForce 4070ti, but I tested Airlink excessive on various other games and it was PERFECT
if you have a problem with USB with Quest 2, this is a same thing with other…
You have a problem with you’re driver usb and windows, a re-instal windows it’s better (excuse me for my english, i’m french…).
Or try a software for problem windows (clean register or other).
Good luck !
Thanks. I have given up with the Quest 2 cable link not being recognised. I could do a Windows 11 re-install fix, but it is not worth it just to get the cable link working, as the PC, all apps and FS are working fine. And besides, I now have a Pico 4, and that works fine with the Oculus USB-C cable. The Quest 2 is going.
I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the Pico for MSFS.
EDIT: don’t worry, just seen your other post!
