This week we are off again in the King Air, and again thru Mexico.
The flight has been called “Mexican Double Cross” as:
-
It refers to the Cross of Caravaca which is important to many people, including Catholics and voodoo practitioners. It is used in prayer or as a personal amulet or talisman. Whether hung on a wall or worn on the body, the Cross has the power to bring strong health, good luck, and fortune. It can also protect from evil.
In Mexico, the Cross of Caravacais often used to create the El Secreto de la Virtuosa Herradura, known in English as The Secret of the Virtuous Horseshoe. This amulet, which can be hung on a wall, is made up of a horseshoe wrapped in red. The horseshoe faces downward, and in the empty space sits the Cross of Caravaca. This amulet is able to bring good luck, health, good fortune, and money to whoever prays with it, as well as ward off evil intentions and gossip from their enemies. -
There is a double meaning, can you guess? Well it has something to do with wind, so maybe that will give you a clue as to what to expect on this challenging flight .
Hopefully the double cross will protect you so that you will not have to seek Redemption.
This flight will be a BACK2BLACK event. In this BACK2BLACK flight event, we will be flying in the BEECHCRAFT KING AIR .This twin engined low wing turbo prop aircraft is a much larger, faster, and more difficult aircraft to pilot…and that degree of difficulty is ratcheted up a further notch by having to put this aircaft into some very interesting (read very challenging ) airstrips. We also have a couple of off field landings to negotiate along the way, and two idle glides to complete.
Be on your game concentration wise the whole flight or you will end up like this aircraft below…
The objective of these Back2Black flights will be to see who can fly the whole event plan without damaging or stressing their planes to where their screen goes Black (Failure & Damage options will be enabled in the Assistance Options in the sim) and they have to restart where they crashed, either by landing heavily, hitting trees on final approach, stalling, or a myriad of other ways that you can ruin your day in the cockpit. If no pilot makes it all the way from departure to destination without going back 2 black then it will be the pilot who has had the least instances of black screens that is declared the event winner.
Along the way there will be a few locations where you can redeem yourself if you have clocked up any Black Screens, allowing you to reduce your tally if you successfully complete one of these redemption challenges.
*Again, a packaged up WEATHER file has been developed and included along with the flight plan, negating any need for anyone to dial in weather settings, as well as ensuring that all pilots are experiencing exactly the same weather conditions. The Weather Preset file is located in #gunpilots-events (click GUNPILOT’s Server to be taken there). Extract file into your Community Folder prior to launching your sim for the flight.
Remember, you will be dropping onto the departure runway in a King Air!
