Microsoft defender anti virus running entire time MSFS is running?

msMpEnd.exe constantly running with CPU usage from 2 to 5 while using MSFS.

I normally run the quick antivirus run prior to running MSFS. I don’t remember antivirus then running when MSFS was running. Not sure if something has changed?

Game Mode doesn’t seem to make a difference. Turning off antivirus real-time monitoring stops it, and helps with CPU usage and a couple of Frames.

Is everyone else noticing the same thing?
Is it new?
Any way to keep it from happening?

Thanks

It seems quite logical that any antivirus software would be constantly active whilst using MSFS simply because the sim is streaming online data, I.e. the antivirus software is appropriately monitoring the data being transferred.

In Defender params you can exclude MSFS directories.

That only helps to speed up drive scans. I believe the OP is referring to the processor footprint caused by the process running in the background.

You are correct.

I don’t disagree. I just never noticed it doing that before.
