Hi all, I’m wondering if it’s possible to transfer my MSFS (2020) scenery and aircraft over to MSFS (2024) if possible? I have another question regarding MSFS2024, does this simulator also happen to have any bugs at all, if so, is MSFS2020 any better than 24?
Rather not waste £70 for 24, if it’s the same simulation.
‘waste not, want not’
Regards,
Oliver.
Q1. Mayube. Some scenery works okay in both, some not. Depends on how the dev has configured it.
Q2 Maybe again. Some say 2024 is much better, others have gone back to 2020 until MS/Asobo get the thing properly finished. 2024 has lots of “new” features and if that’s what you’re after then go for it. Personally I’ve found that, though I do enjoy the new sim, it sometimes leaves me frustrated.

And what is this about ‘Sim Update 2’ and ‘Sim Update 3’?
The sim is basically not a polished product. They do beta testing and when that test run stabilises they make it the base sim for everyone to use. Currently they are beta testing sim update 3 or SU3. When they feel this version has resolved some stabilty issues then will release it to all. They will then start with SU4 and so on until the build continues to improve over the years.
Why doesn’t MSFS2020 have this feature?
It does. MSFS2020 is at Sim Update 15 now, with SU16 being in testing currently.

You can get a 14 day game pass trial for £1. If you need more time to decide it’s only a tenner a month after that.

How do I update this and revert back, I don’t need to just a general question. And where do I find the Sim Updates (Forums, Simulator)
Hello, I have read dozens maybe hundreds of posts on the pros and cons of each version.
The part that terrifies me is the new way 2024 applies the bindings to the controllers.
I am sticking with 2020 for as long as I can.
Check out some of the discussions in the forums.

Updates are automatic and always mandatory. You can’t revert back to previous versions, this guarantees that everyone is always on the same version (for better or worse). If you want to know which is the current version, you can go to the main page of the forum here and at the very first category (Official Microsoft Flight Simulator), you can see the current version numbers for both MSFS 2020 and 2024:

You can click on both to see the latest patch notes. Currently, MSFS 2020 is on “Sim Update 15” (1.38.2.0) and MSFS 2024 is on “Sim Update 2” (1.4.20.0). Beta testing for the next update for both simulators is ongoing, but I would assume they will be publicly released next week (they often release just before a developer live stream).
When an update is released, your console / Xbox app / Steam client will indicate there is an update available and you have to download it.

What are Sim Updates for?
I can’t transfer aircraft and scenery from FS2020?
It’s as I said above, maybe, maybe not. Certainly stock MSFS2020 aircraft and scenery do not transfer but third party sometimes does.
