The area that I grew up was frequently used for (moderate) low level flying. That is quite some time ago, but for me that sounds very familiar! 
The only thing I noticed: The close passes (I only know from airshows of course) were far to quit on my little haedsets. I guess I would have to turn them up to about 500%. I remember the sound together with a shaking of the whole body, when the jets passed by so close.
