I’m very much looking forward to finally getting proper missions. I was on them about it since before launch & whether it’s coincidence or not, many of my suggestions seemed to have made it.
My only disappointments are that certain annoyances that exist in MSFS2020 still seem to exist in this new ‘significantly evolved engine’ like;
- Screen-space reflections.
- The horizon line visible through terrain.
- The sea/ship/seaplane physics still looking to be very basic.
- The weather system seems pretty much identical with the same pretty limited cloud system (the tornado looks great but will be a locked mission thing).
Then the tiny personal annoyances like the lack of any ground dust/debris from the rotor wash…
… & the lack of a Merlin helicopter which just as it did with FSX, has a huge range of variants/roles & both civilian or military mission content possible. (I am slightly bias towards it though).
I’m perfectly happy to pay decent money for the missions & new aircraft (£30-£40) but they’re going to need to show off more base sim improvements then just seasons if they want me to pay (£50-£60+) for a new game.
Better air traffic? Better ATC? Better ground handling? Even just an explanation that the new engine will allow them to add new cloud types, work on improving screen-space reflections etc. I’m sure they’ll talk more on this stuff in the coming months/year.
