Yeah, non VAT prices are more for businesses as they can get it deducted later on when they fill their tax papers. Consumer prices are and should already have VAT.
Agree, it’s a clickbait. Only at the checkout you realise the bargain is not that good. I prefer buying stuff from Contrail store. Unfortunately, they don’t sell inibuilds products.
Yes and international customers could in theory anyway be zero rated but maybe it’s different for digital sales, payment gateways and accounting doing VAT returns involving numerous world wide customers. Still, enough of this ex VAT pricing already!
BTW there is a way to display prices with VAT.
iniBuilds - Scenery – iniBuilds Store
I don’t know how JakTrax78 did it but the page does show prices with VAT included.
He posted it 4 days ago Microsoft Flight Simulator add-on sales and discounts - #200 by JakTrax78
It’s odd because EGGW has from release been advertised at its VAT-inclusive price. I will let Ini off the hook slightly as they do state (underneath the price) the amount of tax that will be added.
They quote ex-VAT prices too, and only add it on at checkout. Orbx, Just Flight, Simmarket and Aerosoft all quote prices inclusive of local taxes.
I personally like the stores that have rewards schemes so try and buy from Orbx, Contrail or Just Flight where possible.
Not in my case. When I am logged in the price on the product page and at the checkout are the same. I bought a few airports just yesterday from Contrail.
Need advice from experts on the forum.I am on Xbox and have Standard version with some Add-ons.It’s in shape of two discs.
In the ongoing sale on Marketplace an updated version of Premium Deluxe at $84.99 has been offered. It maybe noted that it’s an upgrade only and one needs to have MSFS game before one can run the upgrade.
Questions:-
No.1- Considering that FS2024 is anticipated for release sometime SEP-DEC24 period, would it be worth it.Afterall it’s an upgrade only with one wortwhile aircraft and couple of airports.
No.2- I have a MSFS game and Standard version.Would it seamlessly add to my existing stuff.I believe it will take away an additional 80-100 GB.But I have the required space.
No.3- The price for such an upgrade seems quite high but then one doesn’t expect there will be any change at least not for time- being maybe closer to release if FS2024.
Any comment/ suggestion/advice will be highly appreciated for an informed purchase.
I assume you’re from Germany?
I’ve owned the premium deluxe version since day one, but if I went back I wouldn’t buy it. For the price it is not worth it in my opinion. The only airplane I used was the C172 with the gauge cockpit.
Premium Deluxe did seamlessly add for me when I upgraded from the Standard version.
As far as I am aware, you can carry on with 2020 after 2024 releases….it doesn’t go dead.
2024 is supposed to release last quarter of this year….supposed being the key word. If they have problems with it it may get delayed, no one knows the answer to that one. May also be worth sitting back for a few months after release until the inevitable problems are resolved.
- can’t help in terms of its value, its value is different for everyone, yes the C172 was a major draw as it can be modded (Bagalou I believe) and Boris do a very nice Soundpack for it.
Oh, okay. I could have sworn Contrail quotes tax-exclusive prices when I’m logged in but I could be wrong.
Only you can answer that question. I would probably say no on Xbox, since one of the big draws of Premium Deluxe on PC is the B78X modifications by Horizon (B789) and Kuro (B788). I bought Premium Deluxe while on Series X but would certainly think twice if I had to make the decision all over again. I wanted the B78X, plus the extra airports (most of which I’ve now replaced with far better third-party examples). The B78X isn’t really worth the upgrade price, particularly on Xbox and with a new sim just around the corner.
I slightly disagree. Since AAU2 (combined with SU15) I really enjoy the 787 (and 747) by the hands of Working Title. It’s night and day compared to the default one.
Just to complicate the matter further, while many Europeans are used to seeing and comparing tax-inclusive prices, consumer prices shown in the US are always tax-exclusive.
Thats because each state has a different sales tax right?
Greatly obliged for a quick response from several members. It will greatly assist in making my decision soon, whether it would be worth spending that kind of money at this point on Premium Deluxe Upgrade.
Somebody queried if I was from Germany.I am not but come from a country where dollar to local currency parity is very high hence price becomes an issue.
On the technical side I trust there is no reason to worry in regard to its compatibility with my existing game and system and it would seamlessly result in the upgrade intended.
I a very happy to be a part of this community and thoroughly enjoying MSFS.Looking forward to the 2024 version of it.
Thank you and best wishes.
Re Contrail, Marklar666 and Bondjpf are spot on. I just made a purchase and virtually the whole checkout process (certainly in the UK) maintains the sales tax, but when you get to the ‘preview order’ screen (after you’ve input your card details), it gets removed! So basically, the end price is the price you initially see! I’ve no idea how they’re working this; I can only assume the tax is for German buyers, with it being a German site. But it knows I’m in the UK as it automatically gives me the figures in GBP.
Wish I’d known a couple of days ago but I’ve actually only lost £5.25 in savings, across four items. Luckily most of what I’ve bought thus far isn’t available at Contrail, or is in fact more expensive, even with the tax deduction.
What I’m planning to buy tomorrow is a different story and I’d have been p****d realising that I could have saved a small fortune by using Contrail!
I’m not sure if this works similarly if you’re in any other country but it’s worth going almost all the way through the process to find out. I have checked my bank account and they have definitely charged me the base, tax-exclusive rate.
This makes Contrail by far the cheapest on a good number of Easter sale products and they offer a decent loyalty scheme.
I did. But then I don’t pay UK tax.
I get the the same issue with buying on Orbx, where I get charged GST and you probably don’t.
At least GST is a fairly reasonable 10% and not a somewhat excessive 20%.
Don’t forget Virus, Shock Ultra, the SR22, Longitude, etc. Plus the airports(on top of the deluxe stuff). It’s fairly cheap to just go in from the beginning. Likely next time the Vision will be a Premium Deluxe aircraft. I do a lot of racing sims too and always go with the ultra/premium/car pack whatever edition, it’s always worth it. They hit you pretty hard anyway for upgrading because of the Gamepass standard version. I could see the SR22 as a $30 MP plane alone(the new version of it anyway). I don’t want to think of how much I’ve spent on add-ons and new peripherals, the $60 extra is a drop in the bucket.
I’m an an impasse with the current state of the sim on XB so only getting a few things this sale. Got the Rivera, the STOLA Kodiak paints, and the PH100. Switching to PC so that will be a long haul of setup and freeware and mods to stuff I already have. It’ll probably be Black Friday before I catch up…
