Do you know if Contrial applies any kind of encryption in the addons?
Pretty sure only the Marketplace does that.
IniBuilds’ final 24hr mini-sale is worth a mention: their three latest sceneries (Jo’burg, Innsbruck and Brisbane) are all significantly discounted.
Up to 40% Off at the PacSim Store. Sale ends January 06 2025. Thanks to those who’ve bought our products already. Merry Christmas and Happy 2025 to one and all!

Some good deals on the Marketplace (less expensive than Developers own sites) if you are still flying 2020 - hopefully they will port across to 2024 eventually. Transall C-160 was one I’ve just picked up. Sale runs until the 3rd January.
Edit : I wonder if Jan 1st brings other sales on Dev’s own site? …… Jan 2nd may be a busy day.
Aerosoft Offshore Landmarks seem like a bargain of all time! 200 airports for few bucks I skipped it last time due to “great” 2024 coming , but now knowing Ill be back to 2024 earliest 2q 2025 this is my new year gift.
KDEN from Flightbeam is currently on sale -24% OFF. Does anyone know how it works in FS2024? I know it has not been updated for almost two years, but some sceneries work fine straight away.
Contrail have it down as compatible with FS24, so it should be OK. It’s quite an old add-on now, but should work reasonably well on most systems.
Flightbeam’s KDEN looks fine to me in fs2024 just the odd patch of minor flooding and minor texture stuff on the railway but otherwise generally looks OK.
They also have KMSY tagged as FS2024 compatible, but it’s full of trees along the taxiways and on runway threshold. I would not trust these stores. Hence, I am asking.
Thx. I can live with that.
Been on a couple of days now — Contrail are offering Verticalsim’s entire collection at 65% off. Most of them are FS2024 compatible.
If you don’t currently own any Verticalsim products, they come very highly recommended — particularly the later ones such as Tampa, Ontario, Provo and St. Pete’s.
Looks like Contrail have only just started selling FlyTampa’s EHAM and EKCH and, after only a day, both are discounted by 25%. They also have discounts on Dreamflight products and all but the latest scenery from ST Sims. Altec’s LPMA also with a 30% discount.
I’m gonna wonder with the 2024 marketplace, if you buy something there, does it work in 2020 as well? Because the temptation will be there to buy stuff and it will not work.
I doubt it, it’s a different game. I think it will be up to the dev to give a discount if you already own one. Some have already said that’s what they’ll do - you buy it on one sim you get it for the other, but it’ll be up to them.
Many addons work in both games and don’t have any extra features made only for FS2024. Stansted airport from inibuilds for example, it was made for 2020 but is compatible with 2024. I guess if you buy it from FS2024 Marketplace it will also be available and work in the old game.
There are also addons that exist in two versions, one for 2020 and another for 2024, like Just Flight RJ Professional. The 2024 version won’t work in FS2020 but when you buy it from JF you get license to both versions. Should be the same on Marketplace.
I’d 100% check that before making that assumption for everything. There is a 2020 to 2024 compatibility process for MP but it’s one way currently. I’ve not heard anything about it being two way.
Over time, there will be more and more addons that only work in 2024.
Currently, there are fewer than 10 native FS2024 airports (i.e. either not available for 2020 or a completely separate version for the new sim). So at the moment, there’s probably little reason to concern ourselves with it. But where two different versions exist (one for each sim), it would be good business sense to make them available in both sims’ respective marketplaces. Obviously you won’t be able to access the 2024 version in the 2020 Marketplace, and vice-versa — but once owned in one, it should, I imagine, show as owned in the other.
As we move towards more 2024-oriented scenery I think we’ll see fewer 2020 releases, but it’ll take time. Most devs surely won’t want to keep producing two entirely separate versions — especially since the market isn’t yet there for 2024 exclusives — however many seem happy for the moment to keep developing with the 2020 SDK and making simple 2024 conversions (that obviously don’t use any 2024-specific features).
But of course, given MSFS’ history of reliance on third-party mods, FS2024 is largely pointless if no one starts to take advantage of the newer SDK.
Friendly reminder - we have a dedicated thread for questions about MSFS 2024 Marketplace
