"Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently not available in your account."

Getting “Microsoft Flight Simulator is currently not available in your account. Make sure you are signed in to the Store and try again. Here’s the error code, in case you need it: 0x803F8001” error when trying to launch after a few months away and none of the old fixes work. I have had this in the past and fixed it by sync’ing date & time, or by logging out and back in on both Store and Xbox app, but now… nothing. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled, everything’s updated, not sure what else to try.

I really don’t know what else to try. Anyone have any ideas?

One thing I do know: I will NEVER pay for another game via Microsoft Store! I cannot believe I paid over $100 for this and have spent more time updating and troubleshooting than I have flying.

Hi @HdlessRoland,
There have been some topics on this from a search:

https://forums.flightsimulator.com/search?q=0x803F8001

Have you changed any hardware on your PC?

No hardware changes.

For anyone following along, the only way I could resolve this was to reinstall Windows 10 (in-place install, so not too much of a pain, relatively speaking). Now I get to watch 130GB re-download this weekend.

As of this date–May, 2022–no other offered solutions on other threads were effective. Microsoft’s “ownership” system continues to be one of the worst software implementations I’ve encountered in my 30 years in the arena. Monopolies suck.

I did a clean reinstall of Windows 10 on my pc and all purchase history from the MS Store completely vanished. I have tried numerous ways of getting support from Microsoft on this issue, and you will NEVER get to speak to a human being. Even if you request a call back, it won’t happen. I probably should have NOT done a “clean” install. I incorrectly “assumed” that the MS Store was cloud based and would keep your purchase info. Evidently, it is tied ONLY to the version of Windows you are currently using. Delete that, and your purchase info is gone forever…

So installing would make all my Carenados the Cloudmaster and much more gone forever?!
I have downloaded a complete new and updated Windows 10 version yesternight and made a bootstick to re-install and re-download Flight Sim 20 because it is not launching anymore since sunday.

So do I need to install that two years old Windows 10 version from previous old bootstick and update Windows manually?

What has changing the hardware to do with the Flight Simulator?
Isn´t this whole DRM stuff slowly reaching pure insanity?! On MY computer I do what I want with my hardware, and I often change my processor, the RAM from Trident Z to 32GB T-Force, and the graphics card from Radeon 5700 to Vega11 to Radeon 6600 Eagle in a few months. And a entry-level Ryzen 9 or Ryzen Renoir is planned this winter. I am always tinkering around on my PC.
So I am in danger of having my Flight Simulator blocked or the account blocked when I change the hardware on my own property, MY computer? This is insane!

There are people with more than one PC and with 3-4 processors and several kits of RAM and graphics card.

While I’m sorry to hear of the troubles you are having, what you wrote isn’t true.

MSFS is tied to your xbox account and not what version of Windows you have. All purchase history is also tied to that account.

Assure that the xbox app and windows store is signed in to the same account you used to purchase MSFS.

It doesn’t. :slightly_smiling_face:

It’s tied to your Xbox account and not hardware. Required Windows 10 or higher. If you purchased the MS Store version, the Xbox app and Windows Store needs to be signed into the Xbox account that MSFS was purchased from.

Well, it was a fun week. Then I got a hard crash and the problem is back!

I cannot begin to express how disappointed this makes me. When MSFS runs it is great, but it is so incredibly unreliable that it is basically fraud for MS to take money for it. Now I have to decide if I want to reinstall Windows AGAIN for another week of use or just delete this ■■■■, return to XPlane, and accept that Microsoft basically stole $120 from me.

i mean the fix is literally above, it works for everyone so far… just sign in to the xbox app on the correct account, solved…

Signing out in Windows Store, and signing back in solved this problem for me.

I had the same Problem. I already had 10 devices linked to my MS-Store account. I removed one of them and this fix the problem for me.

I had the same problem . What had happened was i needed to reset my Microsoft account password for an unrelated reason then forgot that i had done it when i tried to launch msfs. Signed out signed in with new password all good hope that helps

Had same problem on Windows 11 Pro, was signed in to Microsoft Store, but found I was not signed in to Xbox app. Signing in to this fixed it.
