On a slightly separate but also related note I’ve often wondered if one day they might make sub orbital flight possible with the sim. It would be really interesting to have a shot flying Virgin Galactic.
Shouldn’t there be about 13 minutes of lag between a control input and seeing the response on your screen?
ah yes of course! And it must be in black and white 640x480 resolution. And 99% of the screen is just data and numbers, you’re not actually lookin at Mars
And input lag is a non issue, because a realistic simulation would also require radio signals to travel for minutes. An ideal candidate for streaming.
Mars World Update 1: Cydonia
Come fly over the enigmatic pyramids.
If you want to fly on Mars, simply download one of the old x-plane versions.
There you can choose between the Earth and Mars.
At least there will be no discussion about the accuracy of the flight model!
The only problem I think we’d have is the dreaded message the aircraft has crashed due to stress (based off my luck with landing other planets surface’s in Kerbal Space Program)
How about a UU1 (Universe Update #1) being PLUTO ?
Pluto, about 3 billion miles away .. 9.5 year to get there
For “FULL IMMERSION” fly at a realistic speed to get there in 9.5 years, 6 months after MSFS shuts down after its 10 year run !!
Who wouldn’t want to try growing potatoes from your own ■■■■? Amirite?
I may be old I realize now… I did fly on Mars already !!!
In X-Plane 9 and 10, you could switch to Mars when you were done on Earth… The martian plane was really hard to control (thin atmosphere !)…
It was more of a gimmick than a real “flight sim” part I would say
Just to be clear…
You are suggesting you are old because you remember X-Plane 9?
They have all the time to make it right this time, but who know’s, who know’s
And of course, the mission starts here.
With all of the things that need fixed in sim on Earth I wish there was a down-vote button for this thread.
That being said. I don’t doubt that the world building tech MS/Asobo has come up with will be use/licensed for other products at some point.
The Martian clouds already look unrealistic this game is unplayable what a waste of money no Martian cirrus clouds this rock looks weird why can’t I see my house back on earth from mars why is the sky a weird colour why is mars so ugly smh MSMS worst purchase ever how dare you Asobo you guys couldn’t even get the sun to look proper on mars smh where are the dust tracks from the rovers why is gravity weird this Martian dust should make my plane look more/less dirty than it does I can’t believe it you guys are trash.
Oops that’s actually MSFS forums my bad.
I hope people realize how silly they look doing this exact stuff about MSFS.
Just poking a little fun.
Just like in real life, instead of fixing the bugs on earth (like climate change) we are making plans going to Mars. 11 Votes already, can’t stop the movement
To late to fix climate change, besides that biggest ever seen comet is heading this way, it game over man we better have some place to go … What they tell Arnold in the movie … get your but to mars baby! nyuk nyuk nyuk
Totally off topic for this forum, but I wonder if they (whoever) could do a Mars simulator one of these years like MSFS2020, using satellite imagery and photogrametry. Of course not using conventional aircraft but something else. With simulated fictional bases and simple spacecraft, just for sightseeing. Might be cool…
If you really really want to goto mars, then get a copy of Kerbal Space Program, then after you install that find the Real Solar System Mod, and install that. Now you can either build your own ship or use one of the pre-builds, and off you go to Mars.
The thing is you have to study up on Astro-Navigation because well you dont just point your ship at mars and off you go, 1st you have to establish an orbit around earth that is in the same plane as the planet mars, 2nd you have to break out of earth orbit at the right point so that when you get to mars, mars will actually be there. Now if you manage to accomplish all of this you have to get an orbit around mars established (after that long 2-3 year flight), so now you’ve established orbit. If you dont cheat and have things like damage turned off, you have one shot at this. Pick a spot on the surface and plot your descent to the surface (I like the trenches they’re nice and deep and if you remember to build and bring a rover are a hoot to explore), that is if you actually manage to land with out destroying yourself.
So you think you want to go to Mars, well the above is the best way if you have the cahoonies to try it ;p
It can be a good time, and you can use cheats unlimited fuel, no damage, to make things easier for you, but still in the end you have to learn the basics to get there and theres is alot to learn. Personally I dont see the sim even being able to support the things needed to get you there.
