Microsoft Store Package Dependency Installer - What Is This?

the store dependency installer always comes up i cant get no where tryed reinstalling. same thing, tryed admin same thing. any fixes you know of??

My sim crashed and now it does the same… I click yes to install and it never starts MSFS

Has anyone been able to find a solution to this? I (for unrelated reasons) did a complete fresh Windows 10 reinstall just before installing MSFS SU7, and now whenever I start MSFS I always get this package installer dialog box asking for admin rights. Not only is it a nuisance but it’s actually preventing one of my paid mods, FSKneeboard from connecting to MSFS. Any help or suggestions would be welcome. Thank you.

Thanks!

Running once in Admin mode solved it for me.

Thank you for your response. Each time it asked for admin rights I agreed but it would still just keep launching the same package installer dialog box every time I started the sim. I even ran the sim with admin rights from the very outset but even that didn’t help. Strangely, I once made some changes to assistance options in MSFS and it the problem ceased only after that. It’s running ok for me now but the problem persisted for almost two weeks after SU7.

Please I need some help. I’m getting the same thing on every launch. I’ve tried several drastic measure thats included reinstall Windows 10, Installing Windows 11, back to Windows 10 and every time I run MSFS the Microsoft Store package dependancy installer pops up. Some of my simconnect apps don’t work. What the heck? I need a fix. Desperate here.

Ha…I had the exact same thing last night. Spent 4 or 5 hours trying every known workaround. finally gave up and went to bed. Then tonight when i got home from work I went into Microsoft Store…clicked on library and then update all…and to my surprise it started downloading the patch which was like 500MB or something.

After it finished i clicked on ā€œopenā€ and bugger me the sim loaded up fine. How do you usually launch MSFS…i was previously using a desktop shortcut but am bow launching it from the Store.

I pinned it to the taskbar. First time I launch it is from Xbox. It will usually stop doing it after an update. But even after this update it keeps doing it. Been like this for 2 weeks now.

Its seriously frustrating. I think the trouble with MSFS is that it depends on too many different Apps to launch the ā– ā– ā– ā–  game…there’s the game itself plus the Xbox app and MS Store. If one of them is corrupt it causes major issues.

Have you tried the method of deleting and reinstalling Gaming services described here?

Seems drastic but maybe I’ll try it.

You would think that after 3 fresh installs of the OS and game nothing would be corrupt.

This fixed it for me, navigated to ā€˜Yes’ with the keyboard, ā€˜Enter’ followed by a quick download of whatever ā€˜dependency’ was involved (a matter of seconds) and the sim rolled into action.

That was just a fluke for you. Tried it. Still pops up next time I started it. Just did another complete clean install of the OS made sure everything was updated. Another overnight download of the game and I still get the annoying pop up at every launch of the game.. I give up. I’m just gonna have to live with it until the next sim update cuz that’s when it usually goes away. Fricken Microsoft.

I agree. Another thing is why do I have three owned flight sim titles in Xbox or the store? I originally used a one month trial of game pass to download FS2020. Then I canceled game pass and bought the standard edition on sale for $44. So now 3 things show up. Flight simulator, flight simulator standard and flight simulator digital ownership. Really why so confusing? Ridiculous!!

I agree too. The licensing, app dependency, installation and update processes for FS2020 are ridiculously complicated and I’m sure the cause of so many of the issues reported here.

So, I’ve been dealing with this for the last 4 months and many updates this nag screen every time I started the sim. I looked for every way to fix it including reinstalling the OS and the Sim to no avail. After a while I just gave up and learned to live with it. At least 4 months, maybe longer I’ve been dealing with it. Yesterday, out of the blue, it just stopped for no apparent reason. No more nag screen. Only thing I did was install the GeForce experience and drivers. Not sure if this fixed it or what. Just glad it’s gone.

well MSFS or any other new game - extra layer of DRM protection.
