Mid-high level cloud is ruining the overall live weather depiction

As the title says, the mid to high level cloud depiction is ruining the overall live weather depiction. The mid to high cloud is low resolution, blurry, blobs of white which does not represent clouds in any meaningful way.

Both MSFS 2020 and 2024 seem largely unable to depict any sort of dense and overcast layer of higher cloud and it is ruining the overall immersion and depiction.

This has been my disappointment from the beginning. It is as if Asobo thinks all pilots fly below 16000 ft. I have purposely flown into areas of significant weather warnings and convective tops reported at FL400 only to see puffs rendered in the simulation. Pilots fly in the weather, but weather is lacking.

Looks beautiful to me.

Exactly this. Sure scenery is nice and they do it well. But once you’re above FL100 your scenery is the clouds and the weather and in its current state it needs a lot of work still, both in terms of visuals and representation of different weather situations.

Skip to 1:58 and tell me how horrible the clouds look in the sim compared to this real life video.
I say “horrible” because you claim that the “overall immersion and depiction” is ‘ruined.’

Listen if you’re happy with the clouds then go ahead and fly and enjoy them. This post is to highlight the inadequacies I and many others see. If you don’t agree that’s fine but this post isn’t setup to go back and fourth with users like yourself who see no issue.

I agree, unfortunately they can ruin quite many scenes in the current state.

There is a weirdness about how they are layering them half-translucent behind each other, for me that seems the main issue. They need to blend better.

Yes I see that a lot with the translucence. It appears to me they’ve taken a small type of cloud type and tried to stretch it bigger which results in it being blurry and often this weird translucent depiction we get. A shame because lots of the lower level clouds are don’t very well most of the time, but the lack of dense properly formed upper level clouds means the overall scene and lighting often doesn’t look right.

I never said “I see no issue.”

I never disagree with a wishlist item post. It’s not my place. I vote, or I don’t vote.
In a bug report thread I might say “I haven’t been able to reproduce that.”

If what you want is user support, what support do you think is appropriate?
Only people who agree with you? I’m not that guy (unless I do.)
People who have a way to solve the problem? I certainly can’t do that.
