Miltech Osprey MV-22B problems transitioning from vertical to horizontal flight

Has anyone had any problems transitioning from vertical flight to horizontal flight with the new V-22? I have everything set as I am suppose to but for some reason my Osprey keeps tanking. I start to get warning bells etc. when I put my nacelles at 87 + for vertical landing and I can’t seem to recover from it.

Thanks.

It’s blade stall. Watch your rpm’s and decent rate.

I’m not sure but it’s at the same place when I takeoff vertically, enough to keep me in the air and hover that’s what I don’t understand.

If I takeoff vertically I can go as high as I like and then hover. Without transitioning I lower throttle to decend and land safely, but…when I’m moving forward and come in to land vertically I put my bird at the same configuration and it still tanks.

Transitioning too quickly maybe? Start the conversion slowly well before arriving over the landing site, descending gradually as you do so.

So what you’re saying is that I just can’t decide to put it in vertical mode right a way I can’t just switch it from 0 to 76 + I have to lower my speed first?

Have a sticky beak at this blokes channel…

You’ll find some very helpful tips

No. what I’m saying is to move the nacelles slowly. Your forward speed should start to reduce. Don’t hold the nacelle button down, raise the nacelles in small gentle increments. I’ve found that transitioning slowly to vertical and reducing power gently gives better control. It doesn’t take much to lose control and finish on your back, on the ground.

Understand…I’ll try that and see how it goes…thanks!

Also, there is a helpful graph in the User Guide about speed and nacelles angle.

Can anyone for the love of flying tell me how to pivot this beautiful bird while in helo mode??? It is being the bane of my existence lol. The one thing I have not figured out is how to simply rotate while hovering and it would help me greatly!

Have you tried left/right pedals ? That’s what the rudders are for.

that worked, thank you

It worked ? I hadn’t flown it for awhile. Just tried it and the rudders only made it skew a bit but no rotation with the nacelles at 90.
