Minor detail that really helped me regarding my desk chair

Hope it helps someone else.

I’ve been annoyed with my chair rolling backwards when I depress the toe brakes.
But I didn’t want to use locking casters that required me to depress a lever on the caster itself.

I found these, and they made a huge difference. Unweight the chair, and it moves where I want. Sit down and it locks in place.

Compression Caster for Chairs and Stools - Self Braking - Floor Safe Set of 5

Make sure you buy the compression brake version, not the decompression version.
Also, you need to know the type and dimensions of your existing casters when you order. I bought them direct from Service Caster Corporation, and they have a detailed explanation on how to do that on their website.

I also just bought a glass chair mat. With the new brake casters it should be a winning combo.

I just used a scrap of particle board, cut a hole for the front caster and attached the pedals to that. If I need to move the chair, just lift it 1/4" and move.

There is a very simple solution to change the casters for legs.

Whatever works for you…

I have endless issues with sim chairs. I’ve got the locking casters already, but it’s more the back pain I get sitting too long. I’m actually thinking about buying a good quality car seat and mounting it - those are designed to be sat in for a long time by people operating pedals and wheels and the ergonomics should be better than with an office chair. I tried ‘gaming chairs’, but they were the worst for me.

But that’s not the goal. The goal is to keep the chair from moving when I depress the toe brakes.

Thank God for autopilot!

haha, yes. Its not flying itself that’s usually the issue, it’s when I’m making videos and doing the editing or doing scenery design in the SDK.

I did cross the pond once. Never again!

Thanks you!
I’ve been trying to find something like this…So tired of hitting the rudder and moving backwards or having to hang on to the desk

aaaaaaaaa

I sometimes forget that some people do actual work on their ‘gaming’ computer.

It’s getting to the point where I think I need a separate PC or higher spec laptop for the ‘work’.

You can’t write manuals without a whole lot of flying around.

I didn’t know such a thing existed, so thanks!

What I do is move my chair horizontally into position. The casters are then at 90 degrees to my desk, and sitting on carpet it offers enough friction from all 5 that it doesn’t move an inch.

My physio said everyone with back issues should stand up every 30 minutes.

Not a bad idea for everyone with veins in their legs.
Sitting for long periods increases the risk of thrombophlebitis, and at worst, thromboembolisms. Not how you want to end a flight.

This is what did it for me

Just position the chair and lock them down. Unlock when finished flying.
