Missing Airports Sent to Zendesk

Hi just checking if you have captured YBWW from my previous post?

Hi, this thread is for ‘Missing’ airports. With ‘Missing’ meaning that it isn’t on the world map as an actual airport. i.e. there’s nothing to click on the world map.

This thread is NOT for airports missing runways/buildings/parking etc.

However, the incoming ‘World Hub’ will fix those issues!

The airport at Moriarty NM is missing in MSFS. This is a significant soaring destination as well as a touring field. Not having this after the glider update is a significant oversight.

I’m unable to post on ZENDESK for some reason. If someone can help, I’d appreciate it.

Try this link: https://flightsimulator.zendesk.com/hc/en-us

Added 2 airports from posts above and removed 42 due to WUXII.

Did you report it to Zendesk in the end? (Or did anyone else report it?)

Can someone explain what Zendesk is and what it’s got to do with missing airports in the sim?

Zendesk is the bug reporting system Asobo uses. Airports missing from the sim are treated as bugs and are reported to Asobo via Zendesk.

Hope that helps.

No, I haven’t been able to report in Zendesk. Zendesk never brings up the form for me to submit.

Do you have any browser plugins like NoScript that might be stopping the form from loading?

If I disable the top one, “zendesk.com”, I can choose from the first drop down, but the form doesn’t load. Switch it back to “Trusted”, and the form loads.

I found these airports with skyvector, I checked their existence on Gmap, OpenStreetMap, MapCarta or The EOS Land viewer (so I deleted some of these airports I did not find on satellite photos).
Many of these airports are mine airports, or village airports
I did not sent these airport to zendesk

Thanks. I’m wrapping up another big update to the list and will include these if I didn’t already capture them.

Hopefully in the next week or two.

Hello there,
So I create a little code which exploits data from OpenStreetMap (OSM) and compare it with the airport database of MSFS via little navmap.
This is the link to the code and the results for France : Dropbox - MSFS_missing_airports - Simplify your life
The code outputs a file which can be read by little navmap to show the missing airports.
The aiport POI (in black) represents a missing airport, the triangle represents an airport with a different identifier on OSM.
There are 606 missing airports (according OSM) and 240 airports with a different identifier, only for France.

Of course, this method is usable only in coutries where you can trust OSM and there still are some problems (For example, some fields in the north-east of France do not have names, or the aeromodelism fields are sometimes consider in OSM as airfields). OSM cannot be trust for examples where an airport is reported twice (Deer lake airport in Canada for example).
This can be easily reproduced for other countries with the code I share (just modify the country name in the overpass turbo request).
If you want to run this script on your computer you need :

  • to install python
  • to install littlenavmap
  • change the file paths in the code
  • use the request on overpass turbo and modify it accordingly the region you want to analyse (since the code use bruteforce comparison, cut large areas like Russia into smaller ones to work faster)
  • copy and paste the resulting data of the request into a xml file
  • run the script (you can modify some parameters like the minimum distance to consider a OSM airport and a MSFS airport like a same one, or the ‘fixme’ tag exception which excludes OSM airports with this tag)
  • postprocess on little navmap by importing the resulting CSV file as a Userpoints file

I hope this can be useful !
