Missing content.xml

Hey everyone! I know there are several threads regarding content.xml, but they are either for old updates or are partially related (or solved because people were looking at the wrong place).

I have MSFS (MS Store version). It is installed in a dedicated drive. Recently had an issue so I reinstalled the sim, and I can see there is no content.xml file, which is weird after a clean install.

For sure I’m looking into the right place for MS Store version:

Nevertheless, It’s missing. Is this normal?

Thanks!
Seb

Content.xml is no longer needed, or used by the core of MSFS.

There is a new method for ordering the priorities of objects.

However, a few Addons still use content.xml, (ie navigraph), so while it is most likely no longer present/needed in your MSFS install, if you instal navigarph, then navigraph will make a new content.xml for it’s own needs.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply, was running kinda nervous about the fresh install

May i know which is the new method? So far I knew it was , but still those were lines into content.xml file, so a content.xml file still existed.

The only thing that still uses the content.xml is Navigraph, so if you do have that, it will generate the file and add the entries.

Hello @SebastianJ7210 ,
We ask that people not use General Discussion for help, advice, or support. I have moved your topic to Tech Support.

Sure, thanks! Wasn’t sure if it was actually a support question since I might had just lost track on what happened with content.xml file

BTW if you can still tell me the new method that FS uses for priorization would be grateful. Thanks!

Thanks for this, it set my mind at rest after recently noticing the lack of Content.xml on my system.

I believe it just loads all packages alphabetically by default, then loads the community folder similarly.

There is a tool in the Experimental menu that lets you change loading order. I have yet to find a use for it, however.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the answer! I was curious because I wasn’t able to find a way to prioritize packages, at least at a quick glance. Good to know where it is. Albeit, as you say, I also need to find use for that, not being a dev (only made bushtrips for myself with Buffy’s BTI).
