Missing Main Menu Options

Mod Edit: Changed Title to Better Reflect Help Sought

I have been vexed with a MSFS issue for a few months now and am getting nuts with it,
As per the included screenshot, when I want to change a setting of fuel, controls, weather, etc. the simulator shows grey in the normal selection boxs or wll not allow me to change the fuel or wx from the drop down.
I have changed virtually every setting in MSFS and my computer with no effect. This included the Nvidia drivers.
Help.

You need to use the menu on the top of the screen.
Move your cursor to it and click the item you want to change.

As far as your options screen being grayed out,
I don’t have any idea why.

Maybe someone can assist.

That will not open any drop down boxes, sadly.

Try going into Settings, Apps, Installed Apps, scroll to MSFS 2020, click on the 3 dots, select Advanced Options, under Reset, try ‘Repair’. If that doesn’t work, try ‘Reset’. And if that doesn’t work, uninstall and reinstall.

Thanks, have tried all but the last one. I am going to hold that for a few days thinking about just redoing my whole system, os and all.

Hi @diajohn16472
If you have renamed your community folder, undone any changes to windows files made by some mods, repaired MSFS as mentioned by @RelativeBell177 and started in safe mode and still have the problem, then a reinstall may be your only recourse.

If you do choose to reinstall the OS & MSFS, this would be a good time to consider ways to create regular backups of both your OS & MSFS. This thread discuses this:

It would also be a good time to consider upgrading to Win11 if on Win 10, and also where to install MSFS 2024 if you are planning to purchase this later on in the year.

I was on Win 11 insider 22H2. It updated last night to 23H2 and when I booted MSFS this morning, the problem had resolved along with an empty community folder, all updates and a few other things. I am not uphappy but have been busy updating and reinstalling purchased products outside of the store. I will live with this but wonder if there was something about my version of Win 11 and my configuration that created the issue. It was not anything in community as I had tried it empty and even rebuilt the user.opt file. Probably never know. Life goes on.
