Missing or wrong atc/icao parameters on 40th Anniversary aircraft

 Thank you using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

No

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons?

No

Brief description of the issue:

On all 40th Anniversary Edition aircraft is atc readout on one or both parameters in aircraft.cfg not working as per design. In most cases no “type” and “model” information is told by ATC tts because of this. Also icao parameters often are not the same values as provided on the official icao database which makes model matching on multiplayer (Vatsim) difficult.

As it’s an easy fix I provide the correctly working lines for each aircraft in this bug as a separate answer. Feel free to forward this information to the developers of the aircraft

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

Fly any of the aircraft in VFR and talk to ATC - only the registration number will be called most times without any aircraft type.

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

not needed as being a configuration bug

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

Can you tell if we can fix this on our own for the time beeing?
And if yes, where to put these lines / files?

Thanks anyway.

Sure - you have to navigate to your packages folders and make a left hand turn instead of the usual right hand turn into the “official” folder (so not community).

Search for the aircraft you want to apply these changes to (some are Asobo aircraft, some are microsoft). Open this folder and you will find “SimObjects” with another folder (“Aircraft”) inside. Open this one too and you gonna see the holy grail of .cfg files.

Open the aircraft.cfg using notepad/editor and you will see the [GENERAL] section at the beginning which includes the relevant lines.

Best for now is just to replace atc_type = and atc_model = - if you’d replace the icao codes multiplayer aircraft won’t match

Special case is the A310: you won’t see the aircraft.cfg there as it’s encrypted (so I don’t know what exactly is inside and one but ini can also not change the values)

Cheers!

THX!

Wouldn’t this work as well as a mod?
Instead of tinkering in the Official folder (which is fine for me  ) simply copying the file structure, replace the lines in the '.cfg file there.
Then simply add the necessary layout and manifest and good to go.

Will test this tonight after our community flight.

Sorry, this does not belong to this bug - you should open a independent one in #bugs-and-issues:airports

That would be nice and I already tried this on one of the PMDG 737 liveries but it seems the “general” section is excluded and cannot be overwritten by a simple mod, instead you’d have to copy the whole aircraft unfortunately which would be overkill for just these parameters

Also I file it as a official bug to show the proper way to third parties so they can adapt to this in future projects and to let Xbox people also somehow benefit from it.

Anyway this schema is suspect to changes whenever WorkingTitle is going to rework ATC - the database these values refer to (with the “TT:” identifier) is from FS9 as it doesn’t even include the E-Jets or newer aircraft. The B78X, B748 and other aircraft which came with the sims release were added by Asobo at the database end.

My suggestion to WT would be to rebuild the database based on proper ICAO information and add something like atc_nickname = instead of atc_type and atc_model. That could already be defined by just the icao_manufacturer and icao_type_designator.

It would help devs to not fiddle around with these entirely different params imho
