I was thinking about an MMORPG style launcher for MSFS for a while now. I thought of it first when updating the sim. You have to go in, then check for updates after initial loading, go out to download the update, and then load the sim again. Moreover, I recently noticed that I had updates in my content manager, that were not automatically downloaded nor had I received any notifications for, even Asobo ones!
I would propose that we have an MSFS launcher, much like in MMORPG’s, where the initial check for updates would happen there. Additionally, I would find it handy if addon management and updates for addons were prompted there. In other words, include the content manager and an update check for addons in that launcher. Or at least a sort by, where we would be able to sort on addons needing updating.
This would enable us to update and manage our content and the sim on the desktop, before having to load the sim in the first place. As well as an easier, smoother, automated experience. A set and forget if you will, or at least partly.
I hope this finds appeal with the community as well and enhance our sim experience.
Thanks. Cheers, all.
Agree, but I submitted this request for just what you are asking for months ago, when Sim was first released. Don’t think we are ever going to see that, nor a DVD option for those of us with very slow internet. Partly (suspicion on my part) it’s to facilitate antipiracy issues, and believe, this game will become pay ware/subscription based by end of next year, simply to keep the cash flow going. I did Zendesk the exact thing described above, and although acknowledged, never heard back on any of it. It’s all about the money, they go to subscription, i.e., rental software and I am outta here for good. And that is why I kept my old FSX discs. I can get add on stuff for it way cheaper than monthly subscription amount for this if that happens, so my flying experience is not as “rich”, old people don’t rent stuff, we buy stuff.
Tomais coming in with the smart Ideas again! I love it!
Great idea. Reminds me of the system Arma 3 uses, which is ideal.
Hi gang,
Could you please create a frontend for the game, that downloads and update the game, without rendering as fast as possible, stealing pc resources for other games while patching ?
Also, while you have a clean slate, download and extract/install packages in tandem. And compress/decompress multithreaded
oh yeah, the ability to verify if the install is not corrupt would also be great then.
im not talking about steam here, that only verifies and repairs the 2-ish gigabyte actual launcher.
im talking about the whole deal.
Please think about this, thanks.

enable vsync and from nvidia setting "vsync (adaptive half of screen hz) which is 30fps for 60hz screen and in my case its 120fps cuz 240hz screen
Would be nice if the game updated overnight rather than waiting until I am ready to play.
Agreed - this would make especially a users initial experience with the sim a much better one than the option currently available.
Launcher definitely needs work, it’s insane how it currently operates.
That said, either enable v-sync or just fix the Max frame rate in Nvidia control panel to avoid it running ridiculously fast.
Noooooo. This would just add more complication and points of failure. It doesn’t take that long to launch the game itself and check for updates. I hate the way every ■■■■ thing now wants to have its own pre launch thing before the actual game.
I completely agree, you might find this topic also along the same lines … Please give us a single download for updates!
