Moments of 1, 2 or 3fps with 5080

I had replied to other posts, but I think my issue is different, so here’s a new post.

PC Spec:
AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D
Corsair Vengeance DDR5 64GB
ASUS PRIME RTX 5080 OC 16GB GDDR7 Semi-fanless
Samsung 9100 PRO 2TB PCIe 5.0 M.2 NVMe SSD (14,700/13,400)
Creative Audigy Rx soundcard.
Latest updates on FS24 and latest drivers on the graphics car

No mods - just a clean build of FS24 fully updated.

Usual performance: 100-120fps, dropping to 70-80 at busy airports.

Bug: Occasionally, fps drops to 1, 2 or 3 frames per second. When I first bought the PC and sim a month ago it did it regularly, then after some Nvidia and FS updates, it now mainly does it in career mode at the start of missions (see video below). Audio also cuts in and out. It mostly does this when a mission loads, but can do it on landing too, having been ok during the flight.

Possible fix: I’m currently investigating a possible fix. I haven’t had the bug since I’ve done this, but I’ve only tried 4 times. I start up FS24, let it load with the default intro animation enabled (to give the gfx card some load), and then leave it for 5 or 10 minutes on the menu screen with the animation in the background. Eventually, the graphics card fans will start spinning audibly. If I then start a career mode mission, I don’t get the crazy low fps - it’s smooth. Early days yet, but I’ve done four missions without the problem. Note that when I start other games, the fans start spinning immediately, so I think it’s something to do with the gfx card reacting to load.

Hi @RobManser ,

Thank you for this report. We’ve moved your topic into the User Support Hub.

The Bug Reporting Hub is for posting suspected or confirmed bugs that other users are able to reproduce without duplicating an existing bug report. Using the template or providing all the relevant information about your bug and sim setup is required in order to provide valuable information, feedback, and replication steps to our test team.

If you are not sure if your issue is a bug or need further input from the community, please use the User Support Hub category. If the community can replicate your issue, first search the Bug category to see if there’s an existing topic. If it already exists, contribute to that report. Duplicate bug reports will be closed.

If you believe it is a new report and no duplicate exists, then create a new bug topic using the provided topic template.

All issues caused by or involving third-party addons/mods should be reported to the third-party developer. Assure that no addons/mods are used when reporting issues in Bug Reports.

Hi there. Thank you. Yes, I believe this is a genuine bug. I’ve searched, and judging by other people’s You Tube videos, their stutters are just that - brief moments of grabby frame rate. What I’m experiencing is prolonged 1, 2 or 3fps jerking that lasts several minutes at a time - as per my video.

I’m running no mods at all, and the only add-on I have is one airport that I bought through the FS24 in-game store, but this issue is occurring at all airports and all planes.

I’ll continue with my experiment of leaving the sim started up until I hear the graphics card fan whirring - it seems so far to be an issue when I start the sim and go straight into a flight. My suspicions are that the issue is either the graphics card, or how FS24/DirectX addresses it. I’m not getting this problem with other games, which is curious.
