Monitor upgrade, 3 Monitors

Hello all,
I have now upgraded my computer well (Ryzen 7 5800X processor and RTX 3070TI, 8GB RAM). Currently, I’m running three identical Samsung C24F396FHU monitors (24-inch, Full-HD resolution) side by side (together 1635mm wide). Now I want to upgrade them. I mainly use the monitors to run SIM on the middle monitor and display Navigraph, flight plan, LittleNavMap or other things on the left and right. A 23:9 widescreen monitor (1203mm width) would be too narrow for me. I was thinking more of a 21:9 monitor in WQHD resolution in the center and two smaller ones on the left and right (probably in QHD resolution?).
Does anyone have such a setup? And what kind of monitors do you have?

Sorry, I can’t really help you out here. But… I run a 32 inch 1440p (wqhd) in the center and two side 27 inch 1440p’s. The only issue I have visually is the that the 32 inch at 100% makes the interface of the two 27 inches look a little small.

I added the 32 inch because I sit about 3 feet from the monitor and the 27 inch text, etc. was just too small at that distance.

If I bump the two side 27 inchers up to 125%, then the text and graphics are very slightly larger than that on the 32 inch. So only slightly mismatched. You have to bump the two side monitors multiples of 25%.

Ideally I’d want to bump up the side monitors to only 115%. That would make everything the same size on all three monitors (32 incher running at 100%). But windoze won’t let you do 115%. ■■■■ windoze…

As someone with three monitors also I too would like to move away to something in the WQHD to UWQHD

With the sim I think 1-2 small touch screens would be ideal in pairing or even some programmable knob/button interface.

Hi, I presume you are aware that with SU10 (due on August 23rd) we will be able to cast a single view to three monitors, so any solution you chose will need to be optimised for the post-SU10 era. There are lots of good YouTube videos from beta testers about this - MSFS MULTI VIEW SU10 First Look - YouTube, and MSFS SIM UPDATE 10 BETA: IS DLSS WORTH IT? MY VERDICT (SO FAR) VARJO AERO - YouTube are just two.

I have three MSI MAG321CURV monitors driven by a 3070 TI and i9 with 32GB RAM and M2 SSD, so similar to your setup. These are 4K 1ms monitors designed for this sort of thing and even now with SU9 and the view stretched over all three I am getting 55 down to 40 FPS depending on scenery density. I have all settings at 4K and Ultra. With TrackIR to handle head movement the sim/game is really very good and flying is very satisfying.

I’ve lost track of the number of hours it has taken to get to this point though and you will need to be very patient in trying hundreds of combinations of settings both in Windows and the sim before you are happy. I discarded Nvidia’s multi-screen solution as too slow (down to 7 fps at times). I simply select the “windowed” mode in MSFS graphics settings, put the game on the centre monitor, and stretch the sides and top/bottom so the view covers all three monitors. After a short wait and a bit of screen flickering, the view will settle down with a little distortion at the extreme edges, but still very good in my opinion.

Incidentally the curved monitors work very well in this setup. They are placed at a very shallow angle (only about 5 deg) to each other, so that when sighting along the screen faces there is just a smooth curve of radius 1500mm. Sure, it takes up a lot of desk space, but so what? I sit well inside the centrepoint - about 1.2 metres, and you have to adjust windows display settings to give good text sizes to suit your own preferences. A pair of custom glasses with multi-focal lenses designed for your eyes is not a bad idea either. With TrackIR I can operate any of the dash buttons / knobs, or continue to use external yoke, pedals etc. The only improvement in my opinion would be a good VR setup.

If you want details of more settings please ask.

The problem at the moment (in the beta version) is there’s still no FOV control per monitor/view which (sorta) makes it worthless.|

I should be able to set FS 2020 with my monitors and have the same view(s) as I get with XP11. But…No can do. But it’s better that it was.

Correction, sorry.
Those frame rates were for single screen, 1440 resolution in MSFS, and I am hoping the multi-screen mods in SU10 will give something similar. Anything over 30 is welcome over three screens.

Currently I run a G9 Odyssey (49" curved widescreen) at 3840 x 1080 (not excalty 4k, but still brings home the bacon).

The only issue I see is how non-curved screens render higher fov’s without distoration on the edges

5760x1080 here 3 screen it gets goofy but I call my wing monitors $500 of RGB

Looks like you must be 10 foot tall sitting so far back. I’m not to keen on the “fisheye lens” look.
