More sceneries, addons, World updates installed = lower FPS?

I am feeling that after the last WU, city updates, etc, I am having lower FPS on my sim. Is there an effect on FPS if you have a lot of sceneries and WU, among other thing installed?

Everything that makes things prettier like photogrammetry or more detailed airports is more demanding on the hardware, that’s why they are optional. It doesn’t matter whether your sim runs at 60 fps before and 50 frames after but low end system owners should consider to stick to their current build. 20 frames or 10 frames is huge difference.

In principal there shouldn’t be much effect as the sim only uses what it needs for whatever you are doing. However it is still there and may be having a small effect, multiplied of course by how much of it there is. Addons also make a considerable difference if you have a lot of them loaded into the Community Folder.

I use an addons manager to keep the C/F as small as possible. If there are any World Updates that you never use it might help to uninstall them (via Content Manager). I also have photogrammetry switched off as I tend not visit those areas at a level where it is supposed to help - frankly I’m disappointed with PG but that might be more to do with my system.

Finally the Rolling Cache might have some effect too - I regularly empty mine, don’t know if it helps or not frankly.

I am actually using a high end PC. My question was about If you have installed New Zeland WU and you usually fly around Europe, that disk space on a scenery that you are not often using, has impact on your FPS´s.

I’m using MSFS Addons Linker, get it from Flightsim.to. Takes a little bit of setting up, particularly planning how you plan to construct your library, but I think it’s worth the effort, if only for cutting down (a little) the loading time. There’s a link for a decent Utube vid, either in the Flightsim.to entry or in the developers notes.

Never really tested the effect on FPS, mines a med/high spec system and I just accept what I can get, usually locked at 30fps as I mostly use VR. I’m not a FPS chaser and prefer to fly rather than fiddle around with settings.
