Having just finished watching the Aftershock mini series on Netflix that showed some incredible footage from Nepal, I thought it would be neat to see Mount Everest in the sim.
I took the Orbx PAC750 out of Lukla (elevation 9383 ft AMSL) and departed downhill, then turned northbound towards basecamp. The 750XL’s service ceiling is 20,000 feet- but without any repercussions of breaching this in the sim, was able to nudge it up to 25,000 feet in a very gentle +300fpm rate of climb orbit around the Khumbu icefall area.
The area looks pretty good even with the default mesh with great photoreal ground coverage in the area. After lapping the peak a few thousand feet from its 29,000 foot summit, I got the moneyshot screenshot out the window then made a much shorter return flight back to Lukla.
