Mouse cursor keep disappearing and control focus jumps between mouse cursor and window center

I’ve recently started having this issue as well. No new equipment. Never happened before since I got the simulator in 2020. I’ve tried all the suggestions above but the problem persists.

When I unplugged my CH Products yoke the problem stopped. I tried a Thrustmaster joystick and no problem. Time to get a new yoke!

Don’t you guys find it strange how suddenly everyone’s hardware fails and needs to be replaced?

Even when people are reporting how the issue goes away after they unplugged a certain controller, I think there’s something else going on. Probably as part of one of the latest updates for MSFS.

I’ve seen other strange things too lately I never saw before. Like the white frame you suddenly see around your screens in the cockpit for a couple of seconds before it vanishes again. I’ve seen it many times in the PMDG 737 and it was also seen and commented on in the latest stream by flightdeck2sim.

After having used MSFS 2020 almost from the start, I am now having, I think, the problem others are describing above but may not understand what they are trying to say, so here goes. During the last beta, I noticed that the “countdown” message displayed on the PDF was flickering. It would continue to do that until shutdown on the last message displayed prior to landing. I reported it but it never went away. Now, the mouse cursor (arrows around knobs when adjusting settings) has begun to flicker. I don’t know if it is the “hide the cursor” feature messing up or something else, but it makes making settings while in flight almost impossible. I have tried all the troubleshooting options I know of like emptying the Community folder and adjust my mouse setting for Windows 11 and other things, but to no avail. By the way, my MSFS 2020 runs on a PC, and I have tried two different mice - one wireless and one USB connected. Also, I have two copies of MSFS 2020 - LONG STORY - but one is from the Microsoft Store and the other from Steam. Both do the same thing.

EDIT: After pulling what little hair I have left, I remembered that with Honeycomb Alpha and Bravo, the trim wheel doesn’t work with MSFS 2020. I had installed a program that appears as VJOY in the controls page. I hadn’t had any problems with it until it upgraded during the last few days. I uninstalled it and my problem disappeared! If you have this program installed on your computer, you might consider removing it - at least for a test. This has been one of the disappointments in the Honeycomb purchase. I think that everyone spends a lot of money to be disappointed and recommends it so that they are not alone.

Same problem here, it appears today.

Now it’s impossible to fly. XBOX here

Reading the last two comments make me think even more something isn’t right with MSFS.

At this point, we can only hope it will be addressed sooner than later considering how flying is close to impossible right now. At least if flying an aircraft which requires you to interact with the cockpit.

Not sure if I already mentioned it but last time I saw this issue, it resolved itself after just having MSFS running for some time with a flight loaded. During this time, I didn’t touch anything.

I had the same issue tonight with my Saitek X52 HOTAS, and here is what finally fixed it for me:

  1. In MSFS, press ESC → click Control Options → click Saitek X52 Pro → click the blue “Sensitivity” button on the left side, which brings up sensitivity sliders for all HOTAS axes.
  2. Add 2% to each axis’s deadzone setting. For example, if the current deadzone was 1%, I made it 3%. I did this for all axes.
  3. Clicked “Done” and closed the options to return to flight.

Then my mouse didn’t flicker, and I could FINALLY click my controls again!

To say this is an annoying bug is a vast understatement – why hide the mouse at all?? But at least there’s a workaround.

The new Honeycomb yoke and throttle quadrant came in today and it didn’t solve the issue. I haven’t played with the sensitivity settings yet but, wow, this problem is making MSFS2020 unusable.

I haven’t seen the issue after I updated to the latest Nvidia driver.

Not sure if it’s just pure luck or if it’s actually related.

This problem appear when a default controller preset is changed and saved with a personalized one. Not sure exactly what commands sets this bug off but this is what happened to me.
Reverting back to default fixes the problem.
I had this happened on a Bravo Throttle controller. The mouse gets unresponsive and starts flickering in and out of existents. In VR is horrible especially since at first you don’t know what happened.
More details would be that the mouse cursor flickers from an arrow to a ball like cursor which is used on some cockpit control interactions. The ball like stops the movement from player and also it’s not seen in VR which makes the cursor seem stopping in VR from moving.

Same here. I tried by switching off the fotogrametry (octions → data). It worked until today that I run an update and the mouse is lagging again.

what fixed mine was using the rudder pedals, not sure what caused it, still looking into it (edit: no idea what legacy control mode was or why it was on, i turned it off for now, this is what happens when you come back after a year of patches and updates  )

Same here, just touching the rudder pedals makes the issue go away. Until next time the same thing happens that is…

My rudder pedals are high quality and not “noisy”. So I’m not really sure what Asobo changed to make this happen but hopefully it will be properly addressed eventually.

yea, i also went back to legacy in accessabillity, easier to change bugs but i cant middle click any knobs on gps, that flickering just started, so it was beta update related. it also messed up nav capture on twin otter :frowning:

I’ve had this problem for several months now with my X52 Pro. I thought it must be a hardware issue but I’m now convinced it’s an MSFS issue. Tried loads of things to sop it happening to no avail.

I have found a fix for this issue (Sept 21 2023). It’s the Assistance Options.
After turning EVERYTHING OFF the problem resolved. It’s been running well now for 4 days. It appears the AI (AD artificial dumbness ) is playing around with your mouse. SHUT EVERYTHING OFF including taxi guides. Would prefer Microsoft employees do the job paid to do instead of customer finding ways to work around the poor armature coding) or is putting hand into a packet of potato chips more interesting than typing on keyboard. It’s a dam shame Microsoft isn’t an Australia Corp. They’d be facing deep S and huge fines. Common USA, put the pressure on large corps!

I had the same problem. I’m using a wireless KBD+mouse combo. Sometimes I could see the pointer but it wouldn’t active anything. Even though I had tried everything in the controll options, I went in there again, I clicked on the mouse and them profile. In the past, no profile was shown. THEN I saw below to use the + of - button to change the profile. As soon as I hit the + button on the keyboard, a profile selection was shown. As of that point, the mouse functioned. To test if it still worked, I ended MSFS and restared the Xbox. No problems no matter using the controller, mouse or KBD. Maybe this will work for you or other players.
