Mouse freelook axis crosstalk - overly sensitive

This was fixed in SU1 for me on Xbox.

I dont know i just checked it and its not working
Every setting is correct, i double checked everything
There is the mouse control setting in the camera settings for “cockpit freelook (hold button)” and its just not working
It worked perfectly fine in fs2020 so its kinda amazing to see how they cant fix it now
The newest blog post from Asobo also says that this bug report is “in progress for SU3” ..

Same for me, but this is actually a slightly different problem. On PC, there’s mouse acceleration, which means that the camera movement isn’t proportional to your mouse movement. Very annoying. On Xbox, prior to SU1, it was like move your mouse 1mm and the camera is spinning 5 full 360 degree turns. Literally unusable.

For those who are still running into this issue where minor mouse movements result in uncontrollable camera spinning, extreme sensitivity, or the camera snapping to extreme angles (straight up/down), would you mind responding with the following:

  1. What platform are you using: PC (Steam), PC (MS Store), Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S

  2. What version of MSFS 2024 do you have?

  3. What kind of mouse are you using - Wireless or Wired?

  4. What other peripherals do you have hooked up?

Literally just reinstalled the sim fresh after not using it for months.

  1. PC steam

  2. Latest SU3 beta

  3. Logitech G Pro wireless. Testing with a completely different mouse no difference

  4. I unplugged everything from my pc (even keyboard). Mouse plugged in only: no difference.

Extreme mouse acceleration no matter what

at first I had the problem with camera spinning etc
but since SU1 the camera is not spinning anylonger, instead, its not moving at all when i want to use the “free-look (hold button” camera feature with my mouse on xbox series x.
SU2 didnt fix anything for me, the camera is not spinning, but its still not moving at all while holding the binded mouse button.

  1. Xbox Series X
  2. should be the most recent official version of the sim, i dont participate in any SU betas
  3. Logitech Wireless M170 Mouse
  4. it makes no difference, i tested the mouse camera with only having the mouse connected to my Xbox: not working. Usually i play with the following peripherals connected at the same time: xbox wireless controller, logitech wireless m170 mouse, logitech wireless k235 keyboard, thrustmaster hotas one joystick/thrust lever (connected via usb 3.0 extension cable). the mouse freelook is not working. in fs2020 i was able to play with this exact setup without any problems.
  1. PC (Steam)

  2. FS24 SU2 (But problem exists since launch, especially in cockpit)

  3. Tried with three different mouse - no set dpi settings, all default (even formatted windows)

  4. No peripherals, except xbox wireless controller, just mouse and keyboard.

Mouse sensitivity is not native, there’s a huge deadzone and accelerating overly when moving.

I cant help but feel that maybe a solution to this on PC would be to have a ‘‘RAW Mouse Input’’ option in the settings that would bypass the hardcoded Deadzone, Acceleration, X-axis curve thats implemented.

I just did more testing on this and i think i found a solution for now (and why some might report its fixed while some others report it hasnt been.

With default out of the box bindings theres a pretty big deadzone and mouse acceleration tuned to the freelook axies. (These bindings are Hold to Freelook [Bound to RMB] + Cockpit view Up/Down/Left/Right) and i think those binds are what the issue is affecting only.

I bound my mouse look to the following and its been much better with no deadzone and no mouse acceleration on them (and you can fine tune the curve alot better):
RMB + X Axis movement = Cockpit View Yaw Axis
RMB + Y Axis movement = Cockpit View Pitch Axis

Both X and Y axis are now 1:1 with each other in my brief testing

@Vikerules Can you confirm if you are using the Default 2024 Transveral profile, and if not, what commands they have mapped to pan the cockpit?

Freshly installed the sim just now, latest beta version.

reminder what it actually looks like for me:

2020

2024

and i want to stress that i was moving the mouse faster side to side in the 2020 video

SU 3 just got released

sadly i am not able to play/start the sim atm

Asobo said they fixed this bug with SU 3

can anyone pls confirm if this annoying mouse control bug is fixed (on xbox series x) ?

With the full release Sim Update 3, this annoying bug still exists, not fixed. Its been 10 months since release. Mouse is the primary peripheral you interact with in the sim.

Same here, mouse view is barely usable, im dissapointed

We shouldn’t be forced to buy headtracking to use such basic thing as camera view.

I would request a refund but steam would not allow it, waited 10+ hours to get into the game during the first 2 days of launch.

Did you try this ? : Settings - Controls - Mouse - HardwareSettings

It helped me to adjust mouse freelok sensitivity. Don’t know if it is the correct setting but It’s similar with my MSFS2020 feeling now.

It’s not related with settings/sensitivity. There are many threads on the forum that explain this problem in detail.
