Mouse no longer working for primary cockpit interaction

ISSUE DESCRIPTION

Description of the issue: As of today, my left mouse button no longer works for primary cockpit interaction. I’ve been using it since launch with no problem. The only change I made prior to this was to increase my rolling cache size from 64 to 128 GB.

In the attached clip you can see that it still works during the walk around and for menu navigation, but once I enter the cockpit I cannot click on anything.

I bring up the controller settings so that you can see I have the default mouse profile selected and I scan for input to show that the left button is recognized.

This problem exists in multiple aircraft. I rebooted the console and fully quit and restarted the sim prior to recording this clip.

I launched 2020 and the mouse works fine there. I’m grounded until this is fixed.

Update - did a full reinstall of the sim, but the problem still exists.

But I signed in with my son’s Xbox account and started a new profile (he’s never used FS before) and the mouse works.

So apparently the problem is somehow tied to my profile. I’ll continue trying to sort it out, but my fear is I’m going to have to delete all my saved settings and start over from scratch. This will be the THIRD time I’ve had to configure my controls, and that includes the Axair MIAP which takes quite a bit of effort as anyone who’s done it knows. All in all, it’s probably 2 hours. NOT HAPPY!

As I feared, I had to delete my profile from both the console and the cloud to regain use of the mouse. I tried deleting just the local profile first, but after it synced with the cloud the mouse was nonfunctional again.

So now I’ll get to spend the next 2 hours reconfiguring everything instead of flying. But at least it works again.

I’m an IT professional and I know I’d chalk this up to user error if someone reported it to me. But I can assure you, this was working perfectly the last time I flew and upon startup this morning it was ■■■■■. Other than increasing rolling cache size prior to starting a free flight, I made absolutely no changes.

One last update…

As I was reconfiguring my controls, I noticed the Cockpit Interaction On/Off and Toggle commands. I almost kicked myself, wondering if that was my problem all along, that somehow cockpit interaction got set to ‘off’.

So I mapped a button to it to see if I could duplicate the issue. Nope! It didn’t do anything that I could tell. So I still have no idea what happened.

But at least I’m flying again…

• Same as OP, No Cockpit Interaction at all. If you start an inflight activity all instruments are on but not controllable. Moving a controller you can see the stick moving in the cockpit. Starting from the ground you can not power up the instruments or control any of the levers or switches, you can however i can use logitech X-52 H.O.T.A.S or keyboard commands increase the throttle and flight controls.

Is it only me that has this issue with no interaction with the cockpit? In training once in the cockpit view the Yoke is flashing light blue but clicking one the mouse doesn’t hide the yoke and moving the mouse to other knobs and switches doesn’t highlight them passing the cursor over them. None of the instrument display anything, just dark like they are powered off. Keyboard has no control over cockpit also. Have unplugged X-52 H.O.T.A.S and restarted MSFS with no luck. I’m in Legacy mode and have tried to go windowed screen. Have tried that and switched back to full screen also. Have the latest patch have uninstalled and reinstalled. Have unplugged the mouse and plugged back in. All no luck. Still have MSFS 2020 installed but frustrated. So I will go back to Train Sim World in the mean time as I don’t feel like being a Beta Tester for something I have payed so much for.

Worked for me

I’ve been having CTD issues recently so I reported it to Microsoft and they suggested removing any possible addons like Navigraph etc. I did that and then loaded the sim to see if made any difference, but I can’t really tell as now I have this same issue where I can’t interact with anything using my left mouse button!

All my symptoms are exactly as described in this post. I don’t want to have to delete my Xbox profile as I have other games linked to it as well. There has to be a better solution to this problem than that - but where on earth did this problem come from and how has it just started after never having had this issue before!

Hello,

as I am struggling with this odd behaviour now for a while I might have found at least something. I remembered that I had configured an additional render window before. When you start the sim later this window is laying underneath the full screen you are using. It seems that the additional window interferes with the collision surfaces and hence you cannot ise anything. So after just deleting the additional window from the advanced settings erverything worked again as expected.
So if you face the issue that you do not see the blue hover highlight and instead the hint pops up at strange places consider to delete additional render windows.

For additional rendered windows, you my have to put in a horizontal offset. Such as -90 degree for a left side window and 90 degree for the right side.

not only does my mouse not work in the cockpit, the hardware image presented is not the same as the mouse plugged into the computer.

Yes. In my case the lateral offset is 90 degrees.
But when you close msfs an start again the additional window is not on the screen it was setup to but beneath the mainscreen. Due to offset you see funny hover toasts. I guess that the sensitive areas of the second window is rendered on top of the main window and hence blocking interaction. Deleting the second window or switching it to windowed and back to fullscreen makes the second window pop to the intended screen and everything is fine again.
One of the weirder bugs I guess…
