Mouse wheel zoom on external view automatically zooms back in or out

Can anyone help…

When I use the mouse wheel to zoom in or out on external view; when I stop scrolling, the camera automatically pans it back to being a default zoom level.

Is there a way to make it lock/stay on the zoom level scrolled to?

I usually set my Camera zoom mode to Focus.. then I use my mouse right click to zoom in and out and it stays on the same level.

Check Options>General>Camera>Chase>POV Reset - make sure that’s on Manual.

Tried them… sadly still no joy, scroll to zoom in and it gracefully zooms back out in by itself.

When I open the camera pop-up from the top bar, on the EXTERNAL tab, when I scroll my mouse I see ZOOM LEVEL increase… then when I stopped scrolling it, the slider automatically gracefully goes from 100% back down to 0%.

On this pop-up tried both AUTO and MANUAL ZOOM TYPE

There should be a setting for it somewhere, but I have no idea where else to look. I actually set mine to Auto and the behavior didn’t change from what it was on manual. Maybe someone else knows where the right setting is…

Just for spits and giggles, go to your …8bbwe\LocalCache folder and open the cameras.cfg file. There are several instances of “AllowZoom” - make sure they’re all set to TRUE.

Also - is this on all planes, or just one? If just one, which?

Thanks… check everything set to TRUE.

Just went to check a couple of planes to see if it’s all… zoom is no longer resetting?
Not entirely sure which setting I tweaked, but it’s now zooming and staying.

My camera options under GENERAL OPTIONS are:

GLOBAL
= Zoom Function - MANUAL
= Focus Mode = HOLD

CHASE CAMERA
POV Reset = MANUAL

Hay all!

I’m having the same issue and have tried all of the above with no luck.

Since the last update, when I zoom, then hit the mouse wheel to pan my view, in zoom, it resets the zoom and pans out.

all AllowZoom=1 in the config file.

Any ideas?

My mouse has lost all functionality on the Pop-up boxes from the Game TAB key. The reinstalled game still not working like it was before update 7. Legacy mode etc. Both VR and 2D mode on PC. That’s just one major issue on my list

You have to be on a PC to access these files, but the easiest way to get there is to open your Community folder and then go back up two levels. The full path in a default installation is as follows:

C:\Users\ username \AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
