Move head back and forward

Could someone assist me with my head movement in the cockpit. How do you move your head back and forward? I can move up and down. Left and right With the arrow keys.

But I cannot see how to move closer to the instruments.

Note, this is not the same as zoom. I know how to zoom with the mouse wheel. But what I cannot do is move my head towards the instruments. To look over the yoke, for example, I’d lean forward. And the items behind the yoke become visible. With zoom, things just get bigger.

The cheat sheet says right Alt + up. But that doesn’t do anything for me.

Can anyone confirm this is an issue or how the move their head back and forth?

In xplane - I’d use full stop and comma. I’d like to map that in fs 2020.

I do my business very easy,

I have defined camera move with HAT switch on my yoke and for zoom and close instrument look I use mouse, all without problems. Forget one thing, have defined also reset look to forward (defined cammera point) which reset to forward after I need quickly reset view to my forward view - yoke button.

I use the hat as well to look around. And at the moment, I use the mouse wheel to zoom. But I would like to avoid zoom because it’s not really the same as moving your head forward. The perspective is all wrong. And when you move backwards (zoom out) it looks like a wide angle lens. I am wanting to set keyboard buttons to move head. It worlds with head trackers. If you move your head forward - the camera moves as expected. So it is possible. I am just not sure what keys are bound to this head movement.

in main menu click options > controls > keyboard > set filter to ALL > Select Camera in menu > Cockpit Camera > scroll down till you find Translate cockpit view Backward.
Click on the First box and select Clear current input ( Right alt + down ) , now click on the 'Start searching" box and then hit the button you want for it, then click validate.
if there is a conflikt of the button already being used by another action , then go change that one after.
the name of the Other action will be displayed right under the redbox.

if you dont use the ‘other’ action then just clear it and validate.

best practice is to clear the 2nd boxes ( Alt + Down) and (Alt + Up) because FS20 doesn’t like to have multiple buttons or axis programmed to same action.

Make sure you select “all” first, otherwise it only shows assigned controls.

That’s the one! Perfect! Much better!

thats step 4 yes
