Yes.
I have seen other Posts that kind of describe doing a lot of moves, commands, and so but I don’t know if they do.
This is from my viewpoint. I am MS Store. Don’t know anything about Steam.
And this is the way that Microsoft provides.

yes - there seem be many different ways to do it (or that people are trying to do it) with even more confusion caused be some people having steam and others having MS version…
Hello everyone,
I was looking at the messages since my last visit on this subject, just to confirm that the “MSFSRonS” method is the best … (I did this installation too)
I had proposed on this subject moving MSFS to another disk via the “move option” that Windows offers, this method works but has a problem. Indeed the displacement adds us a much too long access path …
Example: (E: \ WpSystem \ S-1-5-21-1587830104-208576589-4193820454-1001 \ ect, ect)
This will pose a problem for the installing some Mods (even official Mods) the installation will tell you that the path is too long and you could not install.
So to confirm that the “MSFSRonS” method is working correctly.
Good flight everyone ![]()
Thanks for your reply.
It is important for users to understand that the way MS has provided is
more safe and easy than a bunch of users trying to show their talent at the
Windows commands. These can cause many problems if you aren’t
experienced and can cause FS2020 to stop running.
You need to move these folders via the windows app settings
When I originally purchased MSFS 2020 through Steam, I instructed the installation to be put on my E: drive which is a 500GB SSD where I already had some Steam games installed. It appears that it did install the launch part of the program there in E:\Games\steamapps\common\MicrosoftFlightSimulator which is only 1GB. However it put 153GB of data in the C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft Flight Simulator folder. Now, I’m almost out of space on my SSD C: drive where my Windows installation resides. How can I safely move this folder to the E Drive (the only mod I have loaded is BushTalk radio). I don’t want to have to uninstall and reinstall it again (which I assume would put the files back in the same locations anyways). Thanks in advance for any and all help provided.
Hello!
So my friend it’s not that nobody wants to give you help but take the time to read the messages in this thread there is all the info you are looking for… ![]()
Very good.
If the original program location is changed or if the download program
can’t find it where is is, the download program will install it again
to your new location, SSD.
Note to check your previous location.
It may still be there. You need to delete it.
I know that by doing the Settings, Apps, MS Flight Simulator “Move”
command will move FS2020 to your new location specified
but it does not delete it from the old location.
Edit:
I just noticed the date you replied.
2nd or 3rd time I have responded to an old date.
I think that is from the Forum automatically reposting old Posts or something.
Anyway, you need to check it. Save some disc space.
MSFS$Ron$ - Thanks for the reply. I found the solution in this MS article: Can I choose or change the installation path? (Install on the D: drive instead of the C: drive for instance)
I was able to move 143 GB of Packages to another drive and the program works fine. Thanks anyways.

Hey everyone,
I don’t know if I’ve done it the right way but this is what I’ve done when I tried to move my MSFS to my new M2 driver.
Step 1: I copied the package folder from my C drive to my new driver D
Step 2: I went into my C driver and into
C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache
Step 3: I went to the UserCfg file and on the bottom, I changed the path to where my package folder is in the D driver: D:\Packages.
Have I done everything right?
Please let me know.
Best regards.
Since you have already done it, why don’t YOU let us know if it works ??
Well right now on my D drive I only have a package folder that consists of Community and Official folder.
I launched the MSFS and it worked, should I assume that I did it right?
If it works for you --then that works for me, and should work for anyone else, wanting to do the same thing.
Thank you for postings a WORKING detailed description of how to move MSFS to a new Drive ![]()
But the MSFS is still registered on the C driver…
For MS Store, don’t know about Steam.
I don’t know. I just use the MS Flight Simulator “Move” command.
Seems pretty easy. one click.
4 Go to
C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Official
Delete all files folders
5 Go to
c:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\Packages\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Packages\Community
Delete all files and folders
Launcher
(1.6GB)
While trying to update the Just Flight Arrow III the installer gave a too long a path name error which I resolved by moving the C & O folders to the root of the drive and updated the UserCfg.opt file path. It really was that simple and I believe makes loading any addons into the sim more efficient. I have to recommend.
Thanks for the help!
What do you mean with "launcher (1.6GB)
Launcher = Microsoft Flight Simulator app
c:\Program Files\WindowsApps\Microsoft.FlightSimulator_1.18.15.0_x64__8wekyb3d8bbwe
Thank you very much!
