I have been using MSFS 2020 since it first was released. Now that MSFS 2024 seems to have overcome its startup problems, I am considering a transition. However, I have made a large investment in addons to the 2020 version of the game and fear that it will be an uphill climb to recreate the environment I’ve achieved in that version. And its not just about money. I have purchased perhaps 100 airports and other scenery and have downloaded countless liveries for numerous aircraft. Hence, while I can now retrieve favorite aircraft (especially the Fenex series, the PMDG 737 series, etc.), I find it exhausting just to think about how I can reestablish so many great airports and liveries. What’s the Community take?

I use MSFS Add-ons Linker to manage all my add-ons - about 2GB on a separate SSD. All the add-ons are in one file, broken down into aircraft, countries, utilities etc and it makes it pretty easy to select whatever I need for my next flight. Add-ons Linker can now also keep two sets of files going, from the same source file, one for each sim.
The (your) problem is that quite a few add-ons don’t transmute from 2020 to 2024 easily, many of the latest for example only offer versions for 2024. My solution is to add the sim name to the end of the title when I’ve confirmed what it works with. In that way I can reasonably ensure I don’t have any glitches, although they still do sometimes occur.
If you don’t already use the linker programme it’s not too hard to set it up and hopefully you’d find it easier to manage your add-ons in the future.
Other than that I’m not aware of any simpler solution.
Thanks. Very helpful.
