Moving MSFS to new SSD, which option is best?

Exactly. In my version of Win 10 (Home) Bitlocker is not fully supported so whe something locks files I can’t undo that even if I obtain full BL first (which is the obvious move). And I tried everything as admin which I am anyway but to be sure I envoked it at every stage

Yes well I cloned the drive knowing a full reinstall was needed - plz read my post !
And if you have never encountered this problem - well good for you. I did and I didn’t imagine it.
May your moving of the sim continue to be trouble-free - but perhaps you haven’ tried very recently.

Any advice on moving MSFS on a external drive , if its possible?? or do i have to go and use seagate plug in stright into XBox S ? Go easy, I honestly don’t know what to do to expand which i will have to do in the near future.

Many thanks for replying TenPatrol , I’ll look at the link and educate myself . I wasn’t sure because in ghe old days i used msfs then changed to xplane of cause all on PC. But then changed XBox S i didn’t think it was windows based. Many thanks.

What would be the best way to move MSFS2024 to another drive?

I have installed it to a bigger drive (i have two of them), but it is a very slow one. There fore I want to move it to another drive. Should I move also my add ons to that drive? I use Addon Linker.

My problem right now is very long time I need to start the sim. It can take up to 20 minutes.

It depends on how your MSFS 2024 installation is currently set up - for example, where you have the Community folder and where the MSFS 2024 launcher is installed.

First, list the drive letters you currently have, which drive you want to move the Community folder and the other MSFS folders to and where they are located now. The launcher itself should normally remain on the C drive.

With that information, it will be easier to suggest the safest way to move everything without breaking the installation.
