Right now I’m using Thrustmaster 16000M joystick and Thrustmaster TWCS Throttle and it works nice for flying GA.
But I’m now really hyped for airliners and wanna start them fly abit more serious. So I decided to buy throttle designed for airliners and maybe new joystick.
I heard alot of good opinions about Virpil but its just out of my budget. And then many people recommend WinWing products. Are those products really that good like people claim? Any users here?
I’m thinking about getting WinWing Minor Airline joystick and FCU Unit 1 panel because I’m mostly interested in Airbus. They are releasing now Autopilot Panel 3 but it looks like just FCU Unit 1 designed for Boeing?
Also wanna buy WinWing Airline Throttle (I think not yet released, few reviews on YT but nowehere on winwing site or in stores) because it looks sick, much better than Thrustmaster Airbus Throttle.
Just wanted to hear opinions from people that use WinWing products, are they really that good like people claim? Maybe some users of the products I mentioned here?
Hello, your post above covers a LOT of ground that is covered elsewhere in the Forums. My first suggestion to you is to do a LOT of seaching here, read other threads and posts so that you are not disappointed with any purchases you may make. Next, probably a good idea to be very specific about which Airbus airliners you plan to fly both next, and in the future if you decide to stick with Airbus. The reason is that some gear may work well with one Airbus, and not at all with others. This will be covered in other threads, so probably best to do your research first.
Finally, if you may want to try airliners other than Airbus in the future, maybe keep that in mind as side stick systems are one kind of purchase, and yoke systems another. I use my TM Boeing TCA quadrant set-up when flying Airbus because I prefer Boeing based on experience, but that may not be satisfactory for those who are Bus drivers first. All this personal preference stuff follows hardware compatibility issues, which can be very limiting early on, so do your research first.
Quick note: it’s “Winwing”,not “Wingwing”, unless some knockoff brand snuck onto the scene. You might want to edit your post so that people searching in the future can more easily find “Winwing”.
Winwing makes some amazing hardware at very reasonable prices. I have the FCU + Left EFIS, the MDCU (Airbus FMS), and the PFP3 (Boeing 737 FMS). All are excellent units, and I fully recommend. I totally sit on the fence between Boeing and Airbus, so this is a good combo for me for the Fenixes and PMDGs. Winwing has their proprietary software SimAppPro, but I use Spad.Next instead which gives you a lot more flexibility (at the expense of lots of effort to make things work…Spad is not for the plug-and-play customer.) I’m able to adapt the Airbus-style autopilot for pretty much all aircraft (Boeings, GA aircraft).
I have the Thrustmaster Boeing yoke and dual Boeing Throttle Quads, as well as the TM Airbus Sidestick, so this again gives lots of flexibility for all types of planes. Can’t speak to Winwing’s stick, and upcoming throttle quad. But if my TM Airbus stick breaks, I will strongly consider the WW version.
Winwing products can take weeks/months to ship, so keep that in mind.
Thx for the reply, also edited the typo with brand name.
Its possible to use the FCU with Boeing planes without Spad software right from the box (or after some adjustments in the WW software) or it won’t work properly?
I don’t think it’s possible, as I believe the SimAppPro software is hard-coded to certain plane models. However, I’ve never used SimAppPro except very briefly, so maybe others can chime in.
SimAppPro is very much set on rails as to what it will work with. I use it as I’m basically lazy and I only fly Airbus with the WinWing Airbus kit so it doesn’t matter much to me.
SimAppPro isn’t very sophisticated and looks and feels like a yesteryear product. It does however do what it’s supposed to with a clunky feel.
They do update fairly regularly it is however limited mainly to the Fenix anf FBW airbuses so don’t expect it to work with the Ini build aircraft (well not to my knowlege at present).
WinWing kit is solid and so far I’ve found it superbly reliable and is amazing value for money but as SteveKane pointed out there are very long lead times on shipping.
I personally have ordered the majority of mine direct from China. There are some quite steep shipping costs but here in the UK (probably shouldn’t admit to this) so far I’ve dodged any import and VAT on the items I’ve purchased so it’s offset the shipping charges.
Yes, I use Spad with the FCU and EFIS for Boeing a/c. Simply don’t install the Winwings software. On Spad, many users also put up ‘Snippets’ where they have made public their own keybinds for a/c and Spad. So you might use Spad for the 777, and download the snippet on Spad which will enable the EFIS/FCU to be used for that a/c.
Yep, I use the PFP3 for PMDG 737, 777, and the IFly Max. I use the MCDU for the Fenix, TDFi MD11, and just the keyboard for the Ini A307 and A350 (display doesn’t work though). Spad is a pretty big learning curve, but fun once you get the hang of it.
So I ordered WinWing Minor Ursa Airliner joystick and gonna buy the Airbus throttle when it will be released. Waiting now for delivery.
Will need to practice flying on left hand because I’m used to right hand (but the sooner the switch the better I suppose).
Anyway I have some questions about bindings and the WinWing software. Should I set up my keybinds inside MSFS2024 or in the app? Or the app is sending bindings to the game? How does it work?
I heard you can download profiles from other people. Do they show up ingame or I chose them in the app?
Its worth to use Mobiflight app instead if I’m casual user (I heard Spadnext is way more complicated) or the standard app will be enough?
Abit of offtopic but did not wanted to make another thread.
I just used the msfs2020 standard keybinds with the joystick. The SimAppPro did nothing for me - it tried to give some force feedback but not very well.
