This perculiar interaction happens on both msfs 2020 and 2024.
Been spending the last couple of weeks trouble shooting this crazy fps drops and stutter I’ve been getting when BATC traffic injection is running and ive tried many things including reinstalling the game, reinstalling windows, updating drivers, killing processes and unplugging usb one by one. No matter the level of traffic injection selected, I’d go from 100fps to a stutter that spikes anywhere from 15fps to 40fps at short intervals like every second or 2 seconds.
Eventually ive discovered that the issue comes down to when BATC traffic injection is running at the same time as the Moza AB9 base is powered on. If i turn off the AB9 and just have BATC injecting traffic - no fps drop and no stutters. Likewise the other way round, if i turn off the traffic injection and just have the AB9 turned on - also perfect performance.
Anyone have any ideas how i could troubleshoot? Ive tried on the discords for both BATC and Moza and the communities there have tried to offer their help but no luck so far. Things ive tried:
increasing number of sim connections
reinstalling BATC or trying different core engines
close all monitoring processes like MSI afterburner
run with default mobo settings
game mode on/off or prioritise background processes
Try different monitors and cables
reseated ram
Another user with the exact same rig as me has no such issues with BATC traffic injection and the AB9 running at the same time so i have no idea what the issue could be. Below are my specs:
4090
9800x3d
64GB 6000mhz cl30
Pretty sure i have the same stuttering with AIG traffic injection (though havent been able to test since i reinstalled windows and have struggled to set it up again) but fsltl injection causes no problems whatsoever. Is there some interaction between the AB9 drivers and how BATC or AIG traffic injection works that fsltl doesn’t?
No particular issues here with my AB9. I think a drop in performance when using force feedback is probably normal with the extra cpu cycles needed. What we really need is that CPU multithreading optimisations which was promised so many times. I definitely cannot see it in 2024 with reduction in performance by as much as 30%. Regards to BATC is using Vulcan which actually helps a lot with performance. I am on a 13900K / 4090 here.
So its taken me about two months to realise that its my AB9 Base causing the lag in the sim, i can get my settings tuned just how i need and still this lag seems to happen basically any time i change the state of the aircraft , or even the slightest turns, just causing this horrendous stutter, like a pause in the telemitry
i use a rumble seat as well so the way i realised was the rumble was working normally when i was in flight, forgot to trun on my moza base, as soon as i turned it on i started getting lag in telemitry of the rumble seat and lag started in game ,
i have no idea what BATC is but i dont think i use that and have same issue as you, seems to be since the latest update of the ab9 software which was also a pain cos i lost all my profiles i built for all aircraft from scratch lost days of work
tried to google about AB9 and lag but this threadf is closest i could find,
I’ve managed to get my flight sim into a good state where I can run Beyond ATC with max traffic injection with little performance impact, but to achieve this I need to disable:
Moza software
Air manager
Self-loading cargo
For some reason, running any 1 or all of these 3 software alongside traffic injection with Beyond ATC leads to a massive drop in performance and causes severe stutters. I’m not sure why this behaviour exists. On their own, I don’t see reports of performance issues with any of those 3 apps so I’m not sure why they bring MSFS down to a crawl when traffic injection is running. I’ve tried playing around with different settings in Process Lasso to change priorities, affinities etc. to no avail.
