MSFS 2020 Crashes over time when sitting at main menu

Since the new city update 3, i notice when sitting at the main menu for a period of time, there happens to be a crash with no error displayed. This is new, never happened to me before. Was able to leave my pc on with msfs loaded in the background all night. I would say the crash happens within 2-3 hours or so. Any known issues flight sim community?

Have you tried letting the sim run with no addons in the community folder? Addons can sometimes be problematic with new sim releases/updates.

I have not. To be honest, ive tried the “empty your community folder” advice in the past but that never seemed to work for any bugs ive experienced. Typically things like this, i find are usually a bug caused by a recent update from asobo. I know everyone has different experiences, but this is generally what i experience. This is probably another “ill have to wait until the next update” as ive been doing for the past 3 years. But one question i do have is, are we able to revert back to the previous update within the simulator?

Unfortunately everyone is forced to the latest software version so no going back.

Btw… I would still recommend that you empty your community folder and retest.

Why would anyone want to leave MSFS open at the menu screen for 2-3 hours?

And if there is a bug in these circumstances then does it really matter?

Does it really matter why i didnt close the program? And yes, spme times ill go back. The point is the program shouldnt close. No need for your response

I can confirm that I see the same behaviour (but I experienced this before the city update 3). Perhaps you should add it to the Bug Reports section and then other users will be able to vote if they experience it too.

I don’t see this particularly issue getting a lot of interest. It could be a memory leak perhaps. Plotting resource allocation with PerfMon might show that.

But it’s an easy issue to avoid, just don’t leave the sim running like that.

Same here, never happened before. Sometimes it takes 20mins to crash, sometimes an hour…strange
