MSFS 2020 isn't utlilizing full gpu -cpu(mainly low wattage of gpu)

 Thank you for using the Bug section, using templates provided will greatly help the team reproducing the issue and ease the process of fixing it.

Are you using Developer Mode or made changes in it?

I am developer mode ,but I only opened fps indicator

Have you disabled/removed all your mods and addons?

Yes, I tried

Brief description of the issue:

When I flying especially near to the ground, I get low gpu-cpu utilization(both wattage and percentage) although It is depended in gpu not main_thread Note: I get full performance of my laptop in another games like GPU RTX 3070 ti %100 150 watt with cpu power of 55 watt

Provide Screenshot(s)/video(s) of the issue encountered:

Detailed steps to reproduce the issue encountered:

when I started to fly , I can see low performance but, it is more significant when I fly close to the ground

PC specs and/or peripheral set up if relevant:

MSI GE67HX 12UGS i712800HX cpu, RTX 3070 ti GPU 32 gb of ddr5 ram, and I am using alienware AW2721d external monitor

Build Version # when you first started experiencing this issue:

I encountered this problem with a latest version of game

Hi

If you mean that near the ground, your graphics card consumes more, this is probably normal, and the closer you are to the ground, the more objects are loaded with higher texture quality, and the more pressure is put on the card.
I suggest you install a new graphics card driver
Be sure to use a cooler to ventilate the laptop
Be sure to clean the laptop fans
If your monitor gives you 60 frames, be sure to activate the vsync option because it prevents unnecessary energy loss and temperature rise.
I hope I answered correctly because my English is not good and I use Google Translate

If you have a good idea and answer, please help me
See this LInk:

There isn’t a problem with cooling ,because in another application(like cyberpunk) I got 100% utilization with 150 watt power of gpu. Also, please read well then answer. In the msfs 2020, Gpu got %100 utilization ,but It works with low wattage ,therefore it is obvious that it is a bug which only occurs in msfs 2020

Yes, I understand, but I still suggest that you update your graphics card driver… and there is a light on the card that indicates various warnings, check it too… I have an RTX 2060 and my friend told me that the light near The 8-pin cable is there to indicate hardware problems, although it depends on the color of the light

Most likely, you are right, the problem is with the game and the new update, but to be sure, check the items and test in different games.
gpuz is a good program, check there too, maybe it will tell you the amount more precisely
Good luck

I am using latest graphic driver. Also I am using laptop(MSI GE67HX 12UGS)

You appear to be very very close to exceeding your available VRAM. If you turn down texture resolutions does it make a significant difference?

Nothing is changed when I lowered the texture resolutions setting. I thing it is a bug that prevents me to get higher wattage both from gpu and cpu. Also, the interesting thing is cpu wattage getting low too ,there fore it isn’t plausable.

It’s very hard to see in that latest screenshot but is it showing your GPU utilization at 96%? If that is the case, then you might just be limited by your CPU main thread performance now.

I have heard that flying “closer” to things puts more of a strain on your CPU, because the engine must start calculating more collision models. It needs to know where the borders of all the trees, buildings, etc… are to determine when you crash into them

As you have a laptop CPU (even though it’s a pretty strong one for a laptop), it’s possible you’re just hitting CPU single thread limits. Things to try - turning down your TLOD slider, turning down traffic settings (or turn them off for test purposes).

Good luck.

In this scenory, although it is limited to main thread, cpu isn’t being utilized in terms of both wattage and percentage. Therefore, the only plausable explonation is to having a bug.

You can’t look at just the one “overall” CPU percentage. That is the percentage of total core usage, but MSFS does not use multi-cores very well. You can be limited by your main thread and be CPU bound even though many of your other cores are very lightly used. For a better picture, you should check out individual core usage in Task Manager.

Also, just a side note, in your last screenshot, since you have a little bit more GPU headroom, you could probably go to a DLSS Quality setting instead of (what appears) to be DLSS balanced like you have now.

I will go to dlss quality mode. Also, percentage isn’t realy relevant to the performance ,but cpu low wattage is a problem(it is directly related to the cpu performance. It doesn’t matter multi-core or single core performance)

I’m a little confused by this comment, and I think you are mistaken.

If MSFS does not fully utilize all your CPU cores, then the displayed CPU load (Watts) will be much lower than a fully loaded CPU would be. If you have several lightly loaded cores, you should not expect to see your CPU power be anywhere near its rated maximum.

Typically in MSFS your cpu usage is in constant demand and will run hotter over extended periods … so what you are seeing is possibly some degree of thermal management.

It clearly says limited by main thread which is the most common limiting factor unless you’re running in 4k+ or VR.

Overall CPU utilization and power consumption is not a good indicator.
You have the main thread runnig at 100%. If your CPU has 16 threads then the overall utilization will be 100%/16=6%. But that doesn’t mean it can run any faster.

As any sim this game requires as much single thread performance as it can get. That’s why the X3D CPU’s and high frequency desktop ones perform the best. It’ll never run great on a laptop or a console (which is basically a gaming laptop without a screen).

They might optimize some more to spread the load into multiple threads, but I suppose it’s already optimized to almost the limit.
There are certain things in a sim you need to do in a sequence and can’t parallelize.

What you definitely can do to lower the CPU load is turn off all air traffic, boats, cars etc. and in-game multiplayer. Also avoid PG scenery and hand crafted airports.
