MSFS 2020 Premium Deluxe upgrade

Hello everyone! I have had MSFS 2020 Standard Edition for almost 2 years. The question I have is: is it a good idea too buy Premium Deluxe upgrade (the 787, Longitude and SR22 seem to be very well made) or wait for MSFS 2024 to be released?

Personally, I would buy it now as you will be receiving high-quality aircraft and airports. You also get a 30ish % discount on first-party addons as well

So if I were you, I would buy it

AFAIK the place you buy the upgrade is in the game’s market place. Check out the price versus what you get for it and make your call from there.

As for waiting for 2024 arriving that really depends on your financial situation and your expectations on what you should get for the price you are going to pay. I have had plenty games that have not lasted 3 months, and yet there is still at least 10 months before 2024 comes out.

Bear in mind you will probably end up paying more in total to “upgrade” than you would have done to buy Premium Deluxe in the first place.

And this is likely to be anything between 70 to 100 bucks + extra depending on sales etc.

If you like the look of the 787 and SR22 then you may want to consider that for 70 to 100 bucks + you could instead get the A2A Comanche & PMDG 737 which are of far higher fidelity than the Microsoft aircraft.

Granted you do get other aircraft and hand made airports too plus some discounts etc off future purchases as well with Premium Deluxe.

And if I bought the upgrade, what’s the chance that the premium deluxe aircraft will be available for me in MSFS 2024?

I just bought the Premium Deluxe upgrade.
Primarily for the Longitude.

Great airplane.
Definitely worth it.

Working Title excellence.\

Interesting question …

I purchased the Premium/Deluxe MSFS 2020, when 2020 was 1st released.

I fully expect to have to Purchase the 2024 product when it is release, but as its a NEW product, I DO NOT expect that my 2020 Premum/Deluxe planes will carry over.

I do expect that any other addons (Planes / scenery) I buy on the Market place will carry over.

  • I would not consider it FAIR, when my MS2020 Premium/Deluxe content does not carry over, that someone who purchased the 2020 upgrade to Premium, has their Premium/Deluxe planes carry over !!

Best thing for all “would be IF” MSFS2024 is a new Product, just one Version, that INCLUDES ALL the MSFS 2020 planes, including the Premium/Deluxe –

Everyone starts out with the same in 2024, and since then EVERYONE will have what were the 2020 Premium/Deluxe planes, there will be no need for them to be “ENCRYPTED” anymore – especially if the MSFS2024 base plane will be made to NOT carry back to MSFS2020. (why not)

  • NO PILOT LEFT Behind,

a much fairer system,

" No HAVES & HAVE NOTS" ,

and no need for the included MSFS 20204 planes to then be Encrypted, so at last they can be Modded and Fixed by anyone interested in doing so.

  • A Win-Win situation for all, removing the market for “pirated” decrypted versions :+1:

BTW: I also fully expect and accept that MSFS 2024 should cost more than MSFS 2020.

Its should be a BETTER product, with more in it-- and with inflation, very few thing go down in price… Developers need to be paid as well, and to keep up with inflation.

[/quote] Where did you find this info? Looks interesting

If I were you, and you don’t mind waiting, I would get the “full” version of 2024, if such a thing exists. If not you might end up paying for it twice.

I think I understand where MS/Asobo are going with regarding different versions of the sim. If you guys remember the old FSX - It had three versions Standard, Deluxe and Gold ( which included the deluxe and acceleration expansion).

With MSFS 2024 I am guessing it will be similar story, Only this time I need to remember to get the premium deluxe or whatever version they will be calling it.

So far, I have not seen ANY official word from MS, as to if there will continue to be different versions, or they will learn from their past, and simplify things with just ONE universal Version for all. (and cut out all this overpriced Version Update & Encryption nonsense).

With all the better modeled & detailed additional planes now available , why would one want to pay the price of the sim again, just to get a few, poorly modeled & detailed, last generation MSFS 2020 planes. Plus all the issue of model matching in MP…

There are a number of purchaseable addons for the 787. For example, there is Sim Federations missions for 787.

Microsoft has said virtually all addons will work in 2024. If they were not porting over the 2020 aircraft, then virtually all the purchased bush trips, exploration, airliner mission addons would all break. Just about every single one, including Perfect Flights packages, and Perfect Flight is one of their business partners. So while it isn’t 100%, I’m pretty sure 95% or more than Standard, Deluxe, and Premium Deluxe airplanes are going to be ported over.

I would imagine it’s more likely that anything other than planes might have issues as the focus of 2024 seems to be the scenery, world generation etc.

I expect third party airports may need to be refactored.

If it was my decision I would put aside the cost of the Premium Version upgrade and put it towards some high quality 3rd party addons e.g. A2A Comanche, PMDG 737, Fenix, FSReborn M500 or whatever else has your interest.

I got the Premium Version when the sim launched and it made sense then (to me) because at that stage there were no high quality AC. Now it’s a lot different.

The only reason I could see to upgrade would be if you wanted the 30% discount on MP Asobo stuff or if there is a Premium Version addon which you really want.

Meh I’ve bought many things for more that are buried in a closet or donated. Just get it. Next time always go with the top tier. Racing games too. Just equate the the total time in hours spent with the upgrade aircraft products used at the end of it’s run with you. Then see how expensive an hour at chuck e cheese with 2 kids is, and they’ll fight you like your the devil when you leave
. I personally find my premium deluxe a bit more satisfying
