I think one intention for MS is also to promote their Bing Maps and applications. In fact, in one of the latest developer videos, when they talked about upcoming Bing Map updates (which will eventually make it into FS2020), they explicitly said: „Did you know about Bing Maps in Windows 10“? Because a lot of people don‘t
Btw in Bing Maps you can easily find all those cities which have „3d photogrammetry data“ (which then also applies to FS2020)!
So I typed in ‘maps’ on my windows machine and lo, the Maps app (i didnt even know that existed). They have 3D cities on there as well! I went to look for Flagstaff, AZ… it looks beautiful! Now if only we could fly around those neat looking cities in a flight sim… wait a minute…
taking basement miniature cities to a whole new level
I’m just addicted to the scenery now and can’t be in anything other than external view these days. Got ambitious plans to fly low and slow along the coast lines of every continent in a single prop aircraft, I know this will take years, but I’m uploading my progress on my youtube channel ‘scenicsimmer’. Would encourage anyone to record their scenery tours and upload to youtube, only takes a second with ‘Windows Key+G’ then select screen record, and upload the resulting mp4 to youtube with zero editing needed. This way we can share our explorations with everyone.
I love virtually flying and MSFS 2020 opens up the whole world for the VFR flying and exploring/sightseeing that I love as well. Before, flying outside Orbx regions was pretty iffy and not much fun.
