Msfs 2020 will not shut down fully

It is a microsoft product.

Same issue of not logging out properly after the latest update.

I’m in the same boat and I would bet everyone using MSFS2020 is as well. Others probably haven’t noticed it because they shutdown the PC immediately after and of course that terminates all applications.

Annoying but at least it’s manageable and hopefully Asobo will correct the problem but I won’t hold my breath.

Actually, FS2020 shuts down on my end. I loaded it up today and did a couple short flights and when I exited the sim it exited normally.

Mine is still not exiting. All else is normal. Started after the most recent small update.

Same here. one of the updates screwed up 2020

this has actually been happening since i first bought the sim in 2022, i never thought to post it here as it wasnt really a big issue, just thought it was because of my i5 11600 not being powerful enough to process the command

Same issue for me. However, if I close FS2020 and then launch and play again , it doesn’t happen again until I shut down/restart and launch for first time. I have the Store version.

Same issue here, and also I, for some reason, do not have Bing map data and Photogrammetry any long after a recent update. Now my flight is just a permanent offline flight, at the end, the programme can not be shut down.

Today is another update from fs2020.
I was so glad.
Unfortunately the issue doesn’t solve the existing bug when exiting msfs.

I started having the same problem a few days ago.
I updated the game service around the time the problem started happening, but I don’t know if it is related.

They rely did a job on FS2020, didn’t they?

Now I have to have the Nvidia app to run FS, which I don’t want, or FS crashes to the desktop.

Looks like I going to just run X Plane, at least X Plane isn’t crashing to the desktop and I don’t need Nvidia’s junk!

What a mess.

I share everything 100% !!!

Access task manager and look for a logitech process, needed in case you have any logitech multi panel or radio panel. Close it and then fs will close too!

Same here! Be ashamed, Asobo! Your are simply disrespecting the huge flightsim community in ignoring all our error reports!
MSFS 2024 not purchased, and surely will NOT!
No longer trust in your products because of your behaviour!

This bug is not the end of the world, it’s really just a minor nuisance.

After activating the „End Task“ option in Windows, I now shut down FS2020 witch a right click on the FS2020 icon and a click on „End Task“. No need for Task Manager anymore.

There seem to be no negative side effects to this (no issues next time I start FS2020).

Until this bug is fixed, I can live with those two additional clicks. Feedback is already logged with MS/Asobo, so there is hope :slightly_smiling_face:

So I decided to calm down and just keep enjoying my flights in FS2020!

Same here with 2020, I thought it was a new Nvidia driver until I saw this. There was an update yesterday to 2020 but I don’t know what it was, and it didn’t fix the problem. But… easy to end the task.

I experienced this for the first time yesterday, following an update.

Ditto, so bizarre. Nothing strange then all of a sudden created issue you’re all having. Only purchase/change was just flight Arrow package
Running store version, nvidea drivers up to date and only thing that changed(timing might not quite fit) but msfs did update

Same for me – the FS2020 taskbar icon doesn’t shut down fully. Need to go to Task Manager to force shut down. (I’m on PC GamePass / MS Store)
